details

There are a couple of small stains, which I've done my best to photograph. They might come out in the wash, but I haven't tried.

Measurements
S2S: 17"
P2P: 19.25"
P2C: 17.75"
Back length: 25.5"

I'm not sure of the season as I got it second hand but given the throat latch it's definitely from an older season. Besides the small stains it's in good condition. 100% cotton in what appears to be to be a ripstop. Definitely from a SS season.

Like I said in the thread I'd let it go for $100, shipped as I literally never wear it.

over the weekend I was wearing my pair of f/w '13 flannel cinch pants (the cashmere/wool blend). Out to dinner, got up from the bench seating to hit the head and the trousers ripped a giant hole in the back right crotch/rear-end area. When I got home, I noticed that the same spot on the left is wearing dangerously thin and looks ready to rip any day. The thing is, these trousers are in excellent condition, worn minimally and exhibit no signs of heavy wear...no piling of the wool in heavy-wear points, no signs of stress anywhere - they look, essentially, brand new. Also, while these fit slimmer than the past couple of season's they are not at all tight - I'm struggling to figure out how it is a well made pair of pants like this can simply give out way before their time. So, my question to the group is - do you think it appropriate to contact NNY and request a repair or some kind of replacement/credit towards a new pair scenario? I'm not at all one to complain to retail about some shit I brought on myself like a dropped ice-cream cone, or catching a shirt on a nail, etc. but I can't help but feel like this is a construction/material quality issue and for a $300+ pair of trousers, I expect to get my money's worth. I've NEVER had a complaint over EG quality and was EG not know for it's quality materials/construction I wouldn't bother inquiring, but in this situation, I can't help but feel disappointed and wanting some kind of recompense - am I way off base here? Sanity check, please!

Thanks, guys!

I definitely would contact them if you are unhappy with the quality level of the garment, which you should be. They will definitely make it right. I would suggest e-mailing them.

I agree. You see like a stand up guy that has bought a lot of EG so I would contact them.

Thank you, guys - I've contacted NNY and they've already offered to help out. Thanks for the feedback!

In what way?

offered to attempt a repair - waiting for someone "from production" to get back to me in a couple of days, presumably to let me know if a repair is even possible. we shall see...

I would think they owe you a new pair.

yeah...i tend toward that opinion, too - but i'm happy they're dealing with me at all. we'll see - might come to a new pair as i don't think a repair can fix this major of a rip, at least fix it adequately...

Is it bad that I think a major repair from NNY is an upgrade from the original? You should ask them to do something cool.... Hit the DS fabrics or something for a cool patch.

this was my other line of thinking...could be some real "character" added here! esp if they do use some ds material, as you say! i'll see what's possible!

Letting go of this awesome medium FW '13 (I think) shawl collar shirt jacket in olive uniform serge wool. 10/10 condition (no joke), worn very sparsely.

I'd love to trade for a size medium Andover or Bedford in whatever fabric you might have (try me). Also open to size 32/small fatigue shorts.

If you don't have anything to trade, I'd take $240 USD shipped.

GONE

Good to hear that they're going to attempt to repair this. Only way I see this being repaired is if they replace that entire panel of fabric, assuming they have any fabric left from that season. Not sure if it's your thing, but if they don't have the fabric, maybe suggest using a different flannel wool. it would be in line with the mismatching blocking EG tends to like doing.

Considering the fabric is wool cashmere, I'm not surprised that it ripped. That fabric definitely isn't rugged (wool cashmere being probably more on the delicate side) and the pants wouldn't have had to be too tight on you to tear. Since you mentioned it ripped while you were standing up from a seated position I assume the orientation of your legs while getting up trapped some fabric at just the right angle to cause the tear. If they wanted to make it rugged they could have lined the inners with a tougher fabric (some of their canvas fabric maybe that they use to support pockets sewn into more delicate fabrics) for tensile reinforcement. That kind of designing though really isn't their thing.
