Tie brands we may not have heard of (but are worth knowing) - Page 4

Does the Knottery no longer make Grenadines?

Finickey ties - outstanding. Were it not for my adequate tie collection and revulsion at shipping and duties, i'd give this store my patronage. Handled one of theirs four or so years ago and it was outstanding.

Maybe they weren't up when you checked, but every time I have gone they have been on their website.

They still make them, but they sell out pretty quickly when a run comes through.

Will have a Sackett tie to review tonight. Stay tuned.

Received ties from Mountain & Sackett and Panta today.

As you can see, the construction and materials are very different. But I like both for what they are. Both above average quality. (Panta is in a higher tier though)

Sackett:
-Thicker shantung silk
-Thicker lining (not too thick)
-Three fold construction

Panta:
-Thinner madder silk
-Very thin interlining
-Seven fold construction

I'm happy (not thrilled) with both of mine.

What leaves you unthrilled about the Sacketts?

They knot with average ease. But in general, a tie has to be amazing to thrill me. A good tie is just that, a good tie. Would I recommend M&S? Absolutely, if the person likes a particular tie. But it definitely isn't on my "ten ties to try before you die" list.

Alright, I'll get on it. Maker, type, and reasoning.
