Vitamin Water.. yay or nay?

Is anyone a big Vitamin Water drinker? I used to drink it a lot when I worked out, but just found out it has 125 calories and 33 g sugar in each bottle. That cancels out a lot of the calories I burn at the gym! I just assumed it was really healthy, but I guess that's just how they marketed it.

Nay. Drink tap water and eat real food.

It can be useful in the same way Gatorade is, if you're losing a lot of fluids and really need the energy during whatever the activity is (like actual sports). But if you're just weightlifting or doing cardio to lose weight, it's unnecessary.

gatorade has high fructose corn syrup. Vitamin water has crystaline fructose. Both bad stuff. Don't drink distilled water either.

sucker. One of those bottles has nealr as much sugar as a can of Coke. "healthy" indeed.

I gave it up for the most part, and when I want something "refreshing" like that I'll opt for diet iced tea which I often make myself with a little white grapefruit juice or lemon juice for flavor, and artificial sweetener to avoid the calories. These jack me up pretty well, though they don't have the supposed vitamins - just take a multivitamin anyway.

I like it for the pretty colors.

I don't know about the actual health benefits (it's probably a gimmick), but as a flavored water, it's quite good. My favorites are the Energy and the Focus.

No, if you feel the need for extra vitamins just take a tablet that can be had for much less than $1 a bottle or whatever the typical price is on vitamin water and not contain the extra sugar and calories.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. You'll get a whole lot more vitamins from a multivitamin anyway, (without the extra sugar, like you said).

I drink it casually, with no illusions that it's healthy for me.

However, it's wicked good when you're having a hangover; it's my preferred choice over gatorade these days.

I only drink it when I get it for free, once I'm done with it I refill it with tap water and use it as a water bottle for a week or so. then toss it.

Of course it's healthy. Vitamins are healthy; water is healthy. This drink has both; it says so right in its name. Sheesh.

Please stop questioning our corporate masters. By the way, has anyone tried that new soylent green that everyone's raving about?

Credit though, to whoever thought of writing those long-winded descriptions on the side. People actually read that stuff!

You are definitely better off drinking regular water. If you want something with some flavor, go for the propel fitness water. You can just buy the small propel packs and dump them right into a bottle of water, they are much cheaper, 10 servings for about 3 dollars. The best part is that they have less than two grams of carbs and are sugar free I believe.
