Traditional car paint

Is black the best car paint color?

I only think of two alternatives navy blue and burgundy.

No.

I have two black cars.

+1. I don't think I'll get black again. My next car is almost surely going to be gray. Yes it's dull, but its much easier to clean.

I like brown.

I saw an article the other day that said something like 40% of cars sold today are silver or gray. My favorite color for any of my cars has been a semi-metallic dark blue.

Silver seems like the easiest to care for, but silver cars are far too ubiquitous. My next car will probably be black. Clearly the best looking color for a car, IMO. My current car color is called pewter, kind of a darker shade of silver with some bronze thrown in there.

Yes, I favour brown too. This place's roads are a monotony of silvers and greys.

I don't think I've seen a modern car in brown.

Black has great depth in the paint and reflectivity when it is clean and waxed but being so hard to maintain I would never own one. My girl just got her first black car and said she'd never get another one. I have a silver/goldish color now that looks ok but like was said it blends in too much with the rest of the lot. If it was up to me I'd probably get a custom color mixed with some pearl flake, something like a medium grey with a hint of blue. I don't like how white doesn't have the depth of other colors but I saw a killer pearl white paint job the other day that had some hints of other colors.

For me, it has to be yellow on a Corvette roadster, red on a Porsche, gold on (my) a Eldo convertible, and I suppose black on a Mercedes S600.

For safety sake, I tend to avoid road colors such as gray and silver, and those pearlescent colors that Toyota seems so overly fond of.

I like that real dark silvery charcoal - almost black. Anthracite?

Black is good if you have an enclosed garage + a beater car for nasty weather. Helps if you like to wash the car once a week and wax it every 3 months.

I HATE that fucking pearly-beigy colour they have that's pretty much ubiquitous on older model Corollas: It's as if they didn't make it in any other colour.

I can offer some perspective from a detailing standpoint....

Black cars look best on sports cars but tend to look dirty when not kept up. However if you take care of the car it will look the best. A modern sealant like Z-5 Pro can make black look like it was just painted.

Dark charcoal colors look really nice as well as a deep burgundy. I'm not a fan of white or yellow cars and red only on some vehicles.

The Lexus LS comes in a dark olive brown shade.
