I recently found what I believe to be the finest hot dog (dog only) in the world. We are picking some up this evening for dinner. Truly transcendent.

I've always wanted to try one of those bacon wrapped dogs that the street sellers make in the garment district in downtown LA

Do tell! There a German(Hungarian) butcher here up in Yorkville that distributes their hot dogs to local supermarkets. If you're up for it, Wahoo Weiners out of Wahoo, Nebraska are pretty amazing, if a little hard to track down. Usingers are good, too: http://www.usinger.com/

Thank you Shellshock,

I did not know of, the Chilean hotdog previous but, I will try 1 soon.

If you ever come, for the East Coast I can take, you on a CT-NY-NJ, hotdog tour and, also to see the home of, Joey Soprano.

It is a small shop at our local food market called Prather Ranch Meat Co. I don't know if they sell anwhere but their own shop. Here is the web link which has zero information. http://www.ferrybuildingmarketplace....ch_meat_co.php All of the meat is top notch. Maybe not as good as the best in NY, but certainly miles ahead of anything else out here.

I think Prather has a web presence or they do phone sales.

That sounds like the Sonora-style hot dogs you get in north Mexico (and around here).
Positively evil stuff. Wrapped in bacon, with beans (and depending on the "roach coach" you prefer ) mustard, guacamole, grilled hot pepper of some sort, red onion (pickled or not), mayonnaise etc etc.
Great stuff - artery clogging but still

In my experience, they smell much better than they taste. I used to LOVE Top Dog, in Berkeley. There's nothing like it here in LA. Maybe try Carnie's or The Stand. Never really cared for Pinks.

It's a pity they don't have freshly killed meat.

I'm a frequent eater of these things. Topped with mayonnaise, mustard and jalapeños. My mouth just started watering. I've eaten them early in the morning outside of Pep Boys (with Vincent Gallo!), at Coachella (next to a drooling and, I think, stoned Danny Devito), outside the Hollywood Bowl, at street fairs, etc. Whenever I'm hungry and see a cart, they got my business.
