Sorry. OnBoard Diagnostic. Your car's computer monitors certain functions that, if a problem occurs, will result in a code that is read by a OBD meter. The meter is attached to the car by a plug socket that is usually hidden under the dash. The code (looks like 0035 or 0028, etc) can be interpreted using any OBD manual for BMW. The biggest drawback with OBD is that a car can develop a problem that won't trigger a computer code. The mechanic is thus left to figure things out using his brain instead of a digital readout.
