For those who've been interested in the Bonafe hippo boot GMTO (or even if you're just finding about it now), instructions have been posted on how to get in on the order. Invoices will go out next week. The following 6 makeups will go into production:

Base Model: 3824, modified to be a plain toe

Leather: Chocolate brown

Last: 363MOD

Welt: 360 chain-stitched Norwegian with dark brown thread

Sole: Dainite

Edge color: Dark brown

Eyelets: 5 blind eyelets / 4 antique brass speedhooks

 

Makeup #3 

Inspiration: George Cleverley boot Another photo

Model: Whatever model /u/thatisgrossman ‘s is here without the medallion

Leather: Chocolate brown

Last: 74945

Welt: "Storm welt"

Sole: Dainite

Edge color: Dark brown

Eyelets: 4 blind eyelets / 3 speedhooks (antique brass)

 

Makeup #4

Inspiration: This but without speedhooks

Base Model: 3824, modified to be a plain toe

Leather: Chocolate brown

Last: 363MOD

Welt: 360 chain-stitched Norwegian with white thread

Sole: Dainite

Edge color: Dark brown

Eyelets: 9 exposed eyelets (shiny brass)

 

Black Variants

Makeup #7

Note that this makeup will have a price $20 higher than base because of the gusset finishing

Base Model: 2553 Another picture This will be made seamless if possible. Bonafe is confident but not cannot confirm until they handle the hide, sometime in late March

Leather: Black Another pic

Last: 74945

Welt: 270 Flat handwelt

Sole: Millerighe with rombe waist

Edge color: Black

Finished gussets such as these

Here's an older company that looks to be ramping up their production...Crary Boots out of Oregon...very successful kickstarter campaign going....look very nice...I had this pic sent to me after I requested a confirmation on the Burnside in Truckee Red.

I e-mailed them. The boots from the Kickstarter are stitchdown. Based on this video, if you go to them in person, they can do a handwelted boot for you.

Yeah, I looked at that but a few different methods seem to pop up. I certainly didn't know that stitchdown was another name for veldtshoen!
