I recommend the John Varvatos Vintage. It'd be great for fall/winter.

That's impossible to answer without a little more info from you. What settings will you wear it? Work, play? Do you like "fresher" sporty type scents, or something deeper, darker, spicier, etc? My do-everything scent that has incredible versatility would be Chanel Pour Monsieur or possibly Antaeus. But, it would help to have some more info from you. Terre d'Hermes gets lots of compliments, but it's a little "earthier" than some people like. If you like something conventional but still interesting, I like Emporio Armani He and especially He White. They're not as ubiquitous as Aqua di Gio or Code but still conventional enough that you won't get too many strong reactions.

Nothing says:

I just defaulted on a million dollar mortgage...

Why, yes, this IS a hairpiece! How could you tell?...

I drive a red Ferrarri 308 GTS and wear and Hawaiian shirts...

I am surrounded by women who are too dumb to know I'm not rich, but too smart to put out...

...like Drakkar Noir.

If you have a Neiman's near by, try Creed. I like their tweed scent. I believe it was also Cary Grants fav.

You'll also be wanting a time machine to go back to 1992.

Don't for get the Johnson's baby powder. You'll feel fresh, dressed, like a million bucks! Especially when you throw on your white socks, with your all blue chucks.

Since fall/winter is coming I would suggest...

Dior Homme
Gucci Pour Home
Angel
Gaultier2
And even though I haven't smelled it, I keep hearing great things about Narciso Rodriguez for Him

Definitely +1 on Antaeus for the coming season. Might also look at Platinum Egoiste.

Creed Silver Mountain Water is nice as well, but the $ / longevity ratio is rather paltry.
Ungaro III is a dark, wintery scent, not too bad on the $$$.
Rocabar is nice for the holidays, pleasant.
John Varvatos is another winner for the season, as is Cuiron (If you can score a bottle).

Ungaro III is a good suggestion, especially as last time I was at a TJ Maxx they had 100ml bottles for $19.99.
