So I have just moved to Boston this past summer and I don't have a winter coat yet. I really like this one by Rag & Bone, so called "tank coat".

http://www.guisestore.com/Rag_Bone_Jacket_p/40001.htm

I was wondering what this was inspired from? Are there "real" tank coats? Like how there are vintage/true pcoats and then pcoats by whatever brands. Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure why the Rag and Bone guys titled it as a "Tank" coat, but no such coat would have been used by anyone serving as part of a tank crew in the past 80-90 or so years that tanks have been used in war.

It is however, inspired off of the regular covert coat. What I like best about their version, is the way the back is cut, which is not very common nowadays on cheaper covert/overcoats.

"Tank" or "tanker" is a coat style that has nothing to do with military tanks. Just a cut or style of wool coat.
