Video Games (As Art)

I wanted to create this topic for educational purposes rather than as a trump card. I hope a forum non-gamer takes a gander at these games and is blown away by the design. I don't feel like adding descriptions and think that with the screens and videos you can get an idea for what is there, since this is an audio-visual medium. Feel free to add and recommend more screenshots and videos (as well as additional games) as I couldn't find all the media I wanted. Echochrome (PlayStation 3/PSP) http://www.gametrailers.com/player/21881.html Everyday Shooter (PlayStation 3) http://www.gametrailers.com/player/16598.html?type=mov Ico (PlayStation 2) http://youtube.com/watch?v=YSXwreNIuYE No More Heroes (Wii) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVHwL0hAHmA Okami (PlayStation 2) http://www.gametrailers.com/player/9949.html Rez (Dreamcast/PlayStation 2/X-Box 360) http://youtube.com/watch?v=A4EFNWe4mCc Shadow of the Colossus (PlayStation 2) http://www.gametrailers.com/player/7924.html

Rez = Awesome. I hear they are bringing Rez HD to the Xbox Marketplace.

What about this one, Cosmic Smash for Dreamcast:

Damn you Jon!, I was just typing up a starter for a videogames as art discussion (and my hesitance to call games as a medium 'art').

It probably would've been an eloquent counter-point to my "do-it-yourself" links and picturez.

Ikaruga I'd say Battle Raper is probably the most artistic video game

I cant find a good video of it, but the ending credits of Twisted Metal Black were pretty good.

Resident Evil 5 looks like it will have a highly stylized look, not unlike 300.

Capcom just had to include a trademark ultra cheesy line at the end.

We shouldn't only focus on the visuals - video game music has been arranged/adapted and played by very well respected orchestras, and the storylines of many games would have been worthy of any book.
