Good cobbler in San Francisco?

I have a pair of Varvatos shoes whose heels are getting worn out. Do you know any good cobblers?

Semi-related, any place in town where I can have them shorten a leather belt by about an inch?

I'm bumping this thread. I know I can look up in the yellow pages but i trust only SFers opinions on this issue. I did a search and found this thread but was very disappointed to see nobody has responded. I'm also in the San Francisco/Bay Area. Thanks.

Try Anthony's on Geary, near Union Square. They've been around for decades and know what they're doing. They should also be able to shorten your belt.

Got some high end sneakers that I need the upper painted Black. they're made of lamb leather. This will be any easy task for a cobbler right? If so, who should I go to in SF? Anthony?

I've recommended Pioneer in the Castro before on a similar thread. They're very competent and friendly.

But it should be easy to do yourself. You'd just need some Fiebing's leather dye. A good cobbler would have it in black. Tandy Leather in San Bruno has it in tons of colors. Just be sure to wear gloves and do it in an area where you wouldn't mind a dye spill or splatter.

My guy can do both well, but he's in Palo Alto.

The Alden shop in SF recomended someone to me. Robert who works there is a former cobbler himself, so I would take his word for it.

Does anyone know a cobbler that can install a flush metal toe plate like B Nelson does?

Hijacking thread

I've recently moved to SF from LA for work. I'm looking for a cobbler to "dress up" my shoes. Any recommendations please?

Cheers

I'll also recommend Robert. I have used him for years and he has done great work on an extensive collection of shoes. Worth noting he used to make shoes for upscale retailers who private labeled them.
