Tokyo Hotels?

Any recommendations for a good hotel for around 150-200 US a night? Somewhere near the Imperial Hotel?

For a decent/nice room at a reasonable price in that area, I would recommend the Royal Park Shiodome Tower. It is not exactly right in the area of the Imperial, but it is close enough.

Imperial is right near the Imperial Palace. The Royal Park is near Shinbashi, neighboring Ginza. You can walk from the Imperial to the Royal Park in about 20+ minutes.

There are some other Royal Park Hotels nearby, but I recommend the one in Shiodome Tower.

Someone else recommended the Royal Park Shiodome Tower.

Have you stayed there? Is it worth the extra money for a tower room?

I haven`t stayed there, but I have gone there (and seen the rooms) many times.

I don`t know the details of the specific rooms (tower, etc.) but the hotel and the actual rooms are very good for the price, especially considering the location. You have access to great transportation, shopping, and I think most rooms should have a very good view of the Tokyo skyline.

Right next to Royal Park is Park Hotel Tokyo which I would also recommend. I stayed there for 100 a night for a week during the summer.

Both hotels are really near train lines (Park Hotel is across the stree from one basically...)

Right around the corner from Shinjuku Isetan Men's, the center of the shopping universe.

Like I said... great location. Here's a video of a single room, so you can get a better idea of size. He complains about it being SMALL! Obviously he's never stayed in cheaper Japanese accommodations.

Looks like its not available for the time I will be there.

Bummer. Sorry!

Note to self, stop recommending that place, its getting too busy!

I have two free Hyatt nights for any of their properties, and am thinking of using them to go to Tokyo this year. Any thoughts on the Park Hyatt vs. the Grand Hyatt there for a first time visitor?

Park Hyatt is pretty much in the finacial area. The Grand Hyatt seems to be more in the touristy area. All of this is supplied by my gf so...

Park Hyatt is gonna be much nicer, if you can stay there for free, you should. It'd normally cost you $900 a night out of pocket at today's exchange rate.

The Grand Hyatt is in Roppongi Hills, so nice location, but the room will be nothing special.

I think you got this switched around...
