I want to get an idea if the Barrie half size down is the same length as Truman. (ie 8.5 Barrie, 9 Truman). Not really concerned with the width the toebox on the Trumans seem generous.
I ask because I can cram into an 8D Barrie, but ideally wear an 8.5 Barrie B or C width, wear 8.5 C or D width in Barrie boots for thicker socks.
I'd go for a 9 in Trumans if I was ordering a boot, but then those black guidi calf derbies show up and I need a length check... Thanks!
Based on my conversations with the guys at Truman, I agree with @lifeinabox. My read on their sizing is it is TTS for your Brannock and their D width is generous enough to accommodate folks who wear an E on some narrower lasts (which wouldn't describe Barrie - it is fairly generous and TrueBalance is even moreso).
The other thing I'd add that is important is that they know whether you have a high instep or not. I apparently do - I struggle with monkstrap shoes and lower-volume lasts with balmoral closure because of it - and Truman said there were some things they could do in the build to account for it.
I'd say it is very important to give them as much information on sizing as you can (Brannock measurements including instep, sizing in other shoes and boots, etc.) and they'll be very straight with you and accommodate in the boot if possible (the derby is a lot more forgiving, so I didn't include "shoes in that
