Truman Boots - Page 43

A few MTOs return to http://www.trumanboot.com/shop/ including a new leather, the "Classic Shoulder Oiled."  They say the quantities for MTO are limited.  I am looking forward to that Teak Mohawk next week (?)

I am getting a little confused too, they said on instagram that they are catching up with their MTO orders(was about 3-4 weeks behind on Monday 25/01/16), and will only release the standardized line up after all MTO backlog are done. Yet they release some new MTO. :puzzled:

Was wondering the same thing.  I want to get a pair but don't want to do the MTO thing.  Want to see how close they are to Vibergs after reading many different opinions.

All they are doing is restricting their additional production (above stock boots and current MTO workload).   I read the IG as all MTO's that have been submitted will be finished in 3-4 weeks.

So if they allow an additional 20? pair of this shoulder as MTO, no big deal.

I like it...I think I have to much overlap to grab the shoulder... One thing that I think Vince can do, of course I say this having no boot making experience, would be to leave the top three eyestays blank until the order comes in...for me Speed Hooks will completely deter me from buying some boots...I would imagine others feel the opposite...I would think popping speedhooks or eyelets in would be super quick and not slow down shipping of ready made product.

I would also be thrilled with a 4 - 8 week wait for no other changes other than sole option...I really dont think I can stomach another dainite soled boot at this point...I love them but loaded with them...for me Dainite Logger, Commando, Corded, leather or RLH is were I want to be playing these days.

This completely makes sense for a small production business like them. With an MTO they can control the quantity of boots being produced so they can get rid off the extra leather from the production run and also make sure they dont have to many boots siting on the shelf waiting for buyers. People who spend on boots at this price range want to have the best boots for the money (specific sole, leather type, cap to or not, hooks or eyelets, etc...) the MTO is a great oportunity to have the boot you always desire without having to wait 6 mo to a year and having to be fast enough to pull the trigger before someone else snags your size off the shelf before you get to it, like Alden and Viberg's.

I am the same re: Dainite.  At least Sestriere would be different (I prefer it to dainite)

I got the commando that Vince offers and I really like it. There is a nice article comparing it among others, including the Dainite Logger, and I like that the lugs of the commando do not go all the way to the edge, making it less chunky looking.

One advantage of the logger, however, is that it's a half-sole with a top lift, so replacing it should be a lot easier for a cobbler.

I am chunky and thus like the chunkiness of it...lol other thing I like about the Logger is you get more exposed sole edge which I dig with certain leathers. I think one of my next will be with full commando though

Saw this pic on Reddit and thought I'd share. Nice view of the waxy Mohawk. Should have mine soon...

This is week number 10 since I have placed my order(when I first placed my order, the quoted wait was 6-8 weeks), I am getting a little impatience that is. I guess as you said a small MTO addition shouldn't be a problem.

I'm at week 12 and still haven't gotten them. Granted they shipped around week 11.5 but with the massive snow storm in the DC area UPS hasn't gotten around to delivering them yet. I was also quoted 6 weeks, so roughly double the quoted time. I feel like they should throw in something to make up for it.... free next day shipping or a small discount on future orders? Dunno. Ordered them the beginning of November to use in snow... get record snow in DC 10 weeks later and no boots.... not ideal.

The best thing to do is call Vince.

He will be up front with you when you speak with him.

yeah i called and spoke to him. He offered expedited delivery but it wouldn't have mattered since UPS was so backed up anyway. I think it's just a byproduct of their sudden popularity and i'm sure things will get ironed out when they move over to doing pre-made boots with limited MTO. Not a big deal, just wish the timing had worked out better is all. I should be getting them today at least!
