The toe on some recent trumans I have seen are def. a touch different...lasted tighter maybe?

They are machine lasted now versus hand lasted previously.
Vince told me this when I was there.

Hoping to pick up my next pair when they are done....hopefully the machine last won't tighten the vamp area anymore as I am at just the right fit..any tighter and might be uncomfortable.

Bummer. I was looking forward to a hand lasted boot.

They look great! Is the toe structured or unstructured?

No more hand lasted and soon no more MTO. The model seems to have shifted quickly. I would have personally preferred to stay with the previous and pay slightly more. Will be an interesting transition to watch but must admit to being slightly less interested

If all of this is true I'm not that surprised. Demand simply just got to the point where he decided it best to make some changes. But still it's extremely unfortunate. I sort of wondered if he wouldn't also start having more quality issues along the way as well. I'm sure at some point the demand is going to force him to bring in more new people to help him as well.

I don't get the impression that mto will be going away anytime soon. As of now he is still a direct to consumer producer. The custom fields he added to the website hopefully help eliminate some of the lengthy emails he has to go through...I know my first boot was a lot of emails to get it set...second boot ordered was less though we never completed it due to leather issue and my third order was basically able to use the current ordering system.

Looking forward to some new patterns down the road.

@Kahuna75

He posted this on his IG...  Looks like they will be changing business models.  Better get my order in before Jan 15!

We have allot planned for 2016! We're pretty excited to get some of our new stuff going. January 15th we will stop doing made to order as standard and we thought we'd give everyone a quick heads up on that. Also our Snuff Mohawk, as well as some other Stead samples are now stateside and waiting to clear customs. We're pretty excited to move forward on more CF Stead options. Thanks to @codywouldfor spell checking this for me.#trumanbootco #dublin #horween#boots #mens #leather #menswear#newyears #style #begining #news#caftsmanship #stitchdown#usemadeboots

We're still mapping out the transition but it will be largely geared towards fading out MTO. I'm sure throughout 2016 there will be some MTO going on but as limited as we can make it.

@CanadaCal

Wow did not see that, I hope that is just for things like custom leather pieces etc and not the options currently offered on the site....that is a real bummer if it is the latter.

Thanks for that info

It is the latter, sounds like he will offer makeups and post them for immediate purchase or for pre-order maybe?  Who knows..

I guess we will wait and see.

I'm hoping he will be open to an easy GMTO program, which would still be a nice way of getting unique stuff.

Still trying to decide what to order as MTO before it goes away.  Snuff Mohawk, Black Roughout, Natural CXL or  Silver Coyote...

I like all of them - too much overlap with what I have already though....waiting for some final confirmations on a Dublin boot so that will be a nice addition as a final MTO boot for me.
