What makeup did you get and how long since you placed order? I'd be interested in your thoughts since you're a Viberg guy as well.

I ordered the java waxed with captoe and either commando or logger...left that part up to vince...all eyelets and pulltab. I have a pair of Trumans already. I am hesitant to say they are the same quality as Vibergs...since we are talking lengthy serious boot history to new boot maker...for my purposes which may involve a hop up a curb and a scamper into a coffee house or the occasional tailgate party Trumans are as good for me. I could have ordered the waxed flesh from Viberg but went with Vince instead...in fact given the same leather choices and service boot design I would choose Truman every time based on price to quality ratio. Here is my current pair of Trumans below.

History is one thing but my main question is, dollars for donuts how do they really compare? I know the Lasts are different as well as the aesthetics. So my main concerns would be construction, quality of leather and components being used, and the quality of the product exiting the shop.

Well I own a pair of Trumans, have another orered and working on 2 or 3 more pairs with Vince...so I would say dollars for donuts...I like the donuts! The CXL on my boots is comparable to the thickness of Viberg and the Kudu is killer.

I think what Kahuna75 is saying, and correct me if I'm wrong, is that Viberg's have been around for a long time so they've been tried and tested and people know what to expect from them. Although the Truman's seem to be great, I think only time will tell if they hold up as well.

I went WF because that seemed to be what he worked most with, and I liked how his boots looked with that leather. Everything I've read says quality of craftsmanship is comparable. He's just lacking a variety of lasts and access to some more exotic leathers at the moment.

Based on what I have seen on the internet this was my assumption, but its good to hear from someone who is able to do a physical comparison. I do wonder how the quality of leather they use from that other tannery stacks up as well however.

Thanks,

Dan

With the increased demand he certainly is going to get tested a bit for at least a little while anyway.

Agreed. Glad I got in before it got too crazy for him.

My work next week will end up having me on a construction site. I'm hesitant to wear these due to the cost and potential dirt, but I might. These are my first work boots.

If they're comfortable for standing/walking for extended periods, I say go for it.  My jobsite boots are WF Vibergs, and they've performed admirably.  WF is extremely resilient, and it's easy to re-wax them.

I have multiple side by side shots on my blog if you're interested. Vince's quality is superb.

I did have a look around, thanks. I found the information you had on the Seidel Madone very interesting.

Thanks Vince did a stellar job on them.

Got my WF today and they're awesome. Specs are brown WF, black WF tongue gusseted, antique brass eyelets, no hooks, pull tab, commando sole, straight cap. Here's a pic I took today for my IG account. I'll post more pics tomorrow of the boot on and if anyone wants comparisons to Vibergs or something let me know and I'll try to make it happen.

Out of curiosity, did people get a shoe box? I didn't, just a tote.

I don't know if this is against the forum "rules", but if anyone regularly posts pics of their boots on IG, I'd love to check them out. Put up your account names if anyone's down with it.
