I like all of them - too much overlap with what I have already though....waiting for some final confirmations on a Dublin boot so that will be a nice addition as a final MTO boot for me.

what makeups is your Dublin?

Quote: Not fully settled yet, hopefully working some brogue work into the cap toe and the quarters...something a little unique. I have a dublin shoe with brogue work on it by Allen Edmonds and as the leather patinas the broguing(is that a word) starts to look really cool. Though with Vince's busy schedule it may just end up being a cap toed all eyelet boot.

kahuna what sole are you getting on the dublin.

Vince answered my sizing emails and i'm going with a 9.5. Just got to pick a sole now for the dublins

Logger most likely...I love that sole...perhaps the RLH..which I also like a lot.

I love the logger. Since it's a half sole, the waist flexes much more easily and really shortens the break-in time (in my experience at least).

Anyone talked to Vince about what stuff he has from cf stead? Curious what types of leathers will be available.

I did when he got the last batch from CF, not sure what is in this one. Aside from Teak Mohawk.

Waxy Commander
Green Janus Suede
Snuff Mohawk
2 Kudu Colours

Now that we know there is a new business model it makes more sense on why he hasn't released more leathers. I thought he was doing them slowly to get his production times down.

Guys. Need some sizing advice. Yes, I know these questions get annoying and, yes, I've used the search feature. What size should I go with in an unstructured toe if I'm a true size 8d (and on the narrow side of d) and wear the following:

Alden Barrie - 7.5d
Alden trubalance - 7.5d but dang it's wide so I don't love this last on me
Viberg 2030 - 7d - width better than with a 7.5d and it's not too short. Good fit.
Carmina Oscar - 8d/uk7d

I've been eyeing that Dublin for a while and really need to pull the trigger if I'm going to.

Based on this thread, I'm debating between a 7.5d or an 8d. Vince recommended an 8d I believe, but my only hesitation is it being too wide. Perhaps I should just stick with his advice and get the 8.

Okay thanks. Yeah it seems like I'll have to get my order in before the 15th.

8 on 2030
8D on TB
8E on Barrie, Plaza, Aberdeen
7.5 on Rain, Forest, Oscar, and a few other Carmina Lasts.
8.5 on Truman for me.
They 2030 and 1/2 size bigger Truman fit very similarly for me.

Thanks @bkotsko. I'll go with a 7.5 then since a 7 in the 2030 fits me the best.

Well I was perfectly happy agonizing over which makeup before I had a mto deadline. I guess I'm going to have to pull the trigger now as well. Anyone have the waxy mohawk yet? I've not seen any pics of it in the wild anywhere. I'm wondering how this is going to age and if the wax will make it more a bit more durable and less likely to stain than a typical suede.

I was really hoping that the lactae hevea sole shown on the sample dublins would become available for mto. Something a little different, lightweight, comfortable. But guessing that is unlikely now. Anyone have any thoughts on comfort level on dainite logger vs dainite studded?

I'd go with the Dainite logger over the studded for a few reasons.

  1. With the studded, you are only putting your weight on a few studs, which I have always found to create a slightly awkward walking experience.
  2. The logger is a half sole, which I find easier to break in because the waist of the boot bends more easily and creates a nice heel-to-toe rolling motion more quickly.
  3. Again, since the logger is a half sole, they weigh noticeably less than other soles.
