Truman Boots - Page 71

Found this & thought it might be helpful. Not my pics, not my boots, but great example of structured/unstructured side by side pics.

Pretty great sample sale on the web shop today. Still a few left. I missed all the size 10s. Shucks.

Received my MTO bronze nubuck boots today at lunch.  Needless to say, I LOVE these boots!  The nubuck is soft and neppy, construction looks great, and the fit is spot on (went true to size)!  The only, and I mean only, thing slightly off is that the heel sole is curved like a hump and not flat.  I contacted Truman and they said it will flatten out with a few wears, so that makes me feel better.  These really are fantastic, and I'll be ordering another pair from Truman very soon.

Nice makeup! I would have done the same. You got a good turn around if I'm not mistaken. From what I remember bronze nubuck was released not too long ago

Thanks! I actually ordered these a few weeks before Truman released the bronze nubuck to the public. In fact, I just went back and looked at my emails and these arrived just over 10 weeks after ordering, so that wasn't too bad of a wait. Now I'm trying to decide what to order for my next pair.

Neat look.  Truman's description lead me to believe it'd have a metallic hue.

Thanks. It's pretty similar to snuff suede I believe, although snuff is probably darker. I can compare my Alden and Carmina snuff suede to these tonight if you'd like. It's a beautiful color tone IMO.

The construction is quite clean, the stitching is a solid step above my 'bergs, pretty much flawless. That said, the right captoe is a bit longer/slanted. This is something that might not come across in photos in general so I included a top-down in the last photo. Is this something anyone else has noticed in their Trumans? If so I might just get it rebuilt with a plain toe.

A note on sizing - I'm an 8.5c brannock, take an 8c/d Barrie, have 2030 boots in both a 7.5 (stitchdown cxl, short but workable) and 8 (stitchdown shell, slightly long, preferable). I originally ordered in an 8 and changed the order to an 8.5 a week later. I don't see an invoice in the box nor markings on the boots... assuming these are an 8.5, another vote for TTS, pretty much spot on. Don't notice the low instep issue nor do they feel wide anywhere, toe-box included. Pretty damn close to a barrie boot a half size down. I'd say my size 8 shell 2030 boots are slightly longer than these in an 8.5.

Can you tell us how that shell compares to Horween's shell used by other manufacturers?

I've only handled Horween shell (have brandy shell Vibergs and Alden 975s) -- it seems reasonably close in thickness and texture. I believe Deusis (guardedgoods.com) remarked that Rocado is close to Horween for roughly half the price, and he's handled just about everything out there.

Sounds good.  I'd like to see how the color compares to snuff suede.

"Janus Butt" ox hide suede boot. Quite impressed with the material and Truman construction.

Shoot that's nice. Is that pretty much the color IRL?

I'd say a little deeper navy in most situations. Here's the other extreme (indoors, low light, phone camera), but even there you can see lighter areas depending on the direction of the nap.

I took a few pictures comparing the Truman boots to Alden snuff (wingtip boots) and Carmina snuff (loafers). Few things to note: (1) it was overcast outside for the two pictures taken on my deck, (2) these iPhone pictures make all of them look lighter than they are IRL, and (3) my iPhone 5s camera is average at best. Having said that, IRL, this Truman nubuck is clearly the lightest shade of brown, almost like Carmina's tobacco suede but not that light, followed by Alden snuff, and then Carmina snuff. I love this nubuck color. It's exactly what I was hoping for with this style of boot.

Very nice comparison.  Thanks for taking the time & pics.  A light shade of brown is a good place to be IMO.  I'd love to know how the bronze compares to the polo brown Janus butt they had available a few months back.

The blue ones up there ^ are sharp too & look great w' 8 eyelets.  The recent sample sale had a blue boot listed, but I can't recall what leather was used.
