What I can suggest is to look on buy & sell, ebay, and allen edmonds shoe bank.  They did just come out with a chelsea boot, although I don't know how weather resistant it will be.   However sizing and returns will be next to impossible for these methods.

Blundstones for nasty snow weather will work, and you should be able to find them for $200 ish, lots of coupons floating around for .ca shoe stores.

That is about the extent of it, if you want a finer GYW Chelsea you will need to spend $600-700++

Agreed.  But I took him to be saying that he won't buy on-line.  Local purchase for at or under $200... I am unable to assist.  He could try the Rosen Outlet - their footwear for the most part will be much better than the mall offerings.  But $200 there will still be a tough find.  Still, I've come across AE boots there for around that price.

Ahh missed that part...

If you can extend your budget a little bit you can get a sleek, good quality chelsea boot locally from Loding for $330 (price increases from October 1st).

Probably the best option all things considered

I've got a pair of Cole Haan Nike Air boots that faired really well last winter with minimum maintenance. I know it will probably get pooped on here but that would be a sub 200 option if you find on sale

Club Monaco carries an Allen Edmonds chelsea and has the "spend more save more" type of sale this weekend. They should be $450ish - 30%. Probably a better option if you're considering Loding.

Blundstone makes crap shoes now. The sole is just glued on and becomes unglued quickly with some abuse. Check the online reviews.

My winter SHTF leather boots are my Danners Arcadia with Goretex lining. They've been resoled once already but can still take winter beating no problem.

For winter I wear various Carmina or Alden boots that are either grained, kudo or reverse chamois...all with dainite or commando sole.

Wow, thanks for reminding me of Club Monaco's AE. Just checked their current offerings and it looks like they have shell cordovan for ways cheaper than on AE website :smarmy:

Still not ready to jump on those though :violin:
