I love both stores about equally. Asides from being swell guys all around, they're nice to have a conversation with. I really value that aspect when shopping at the smaller boutiques.

Uncle Otis' final discounts do tend to be better than Working Title, although not by much from my observations. I'm more inclined to wait for sales at this point in my life but as is the case in most boutiques, there is usually only one piece in a size Small for most SKUs and I know that by playing the waiting game, there's a decent chance that it will by gone by sale season. This is especially case during the Fall/Winter season, for obvious reasons. The pieces that I know will haunt my mind should I miss out on them are the ones I'll pay full price for, if the budget allows it.

The other detriment is that stores may not buy from that designer again if it only sells during sale season. I learned this the hard way with Stephan Schneider.

Most of Capsule's brands don't appeal to me, although I didn't know they carried Buddy until now. I mostly go to TNT to look at their Yohji/Junya/CdGH+ selection, as their Farfetch storefront doesn't show everything that is in-store.

Fair point.  I've only purchased one thing from Uncle Otis, but I got it nearly 80% off, so I'm partial to them. They also have the closest proximity to other stores which is a plus.

I've been lucky since they seem to have kept the brands I'm interested in. Norse Project and W+H seem to always be there. TNT has that crazy wall of CDGPlay... interesting to look at, but it seems like it never gets sold.

If you're interested in Buddy, Sydney's on Queen has a few pairs on sale last I saw.

With all the yaking recently on quality shoes for less.

Some Carmina in here for $400 CAD landed (approx).  Go get them.  If I fit Rain I'd own those 2 eye derbys.

Crazy deals here. I'd grab the split toe...if I didn't have a million home improvement projects awaiting.

Lots of nice little known Italian labels. Great ties.

When I used to work close to there I dropped in once. I suppose their shirts turned me off, as I don't like any if their designs. I have no idea as to their quality, though, but I never stepped foot in the store again. If just seemed kind of cheap. I don't remember the ties. Perhaps I'll give them another chance and check those out.

On another note, Stagioni or whatever the store was called that used to occupy the space on Toronto St where Spier & Mackay is now, has resurfaced on Colborne. I walked into the previous store twice, about six months apart, and was told the same story about them having to close their doors in the next month or so. Never was there a mention of reopening elsewhere. Hmmm...

The ties were awesome. I think they're in a drawer at work, I'll get the make. Yes the suits/shirts? ..drop by but also do your homework I suppose.

If anyone's needing a new suit or w/e the Heartland and Vaughan Mills Rosen outlets will eat the HST +2 % > $500, now thru this Sunday...not bad.

So they are $307 CAD. How much do you get hit with by FedEX when ordering through Skoak? Would I be better off paying $45 shipping via Canada Post (probably not)?

With post you at least have a shot at evading duties and taxes all together.  Worth waiting a week.  Admittedly the downside is a bit less of a concern on a discounted pair of Carminas than full ticket G&Gs, but still.  And given that we are facing postal uncertainty right now, I can understand going the courier route.  Of course I have a pair in transit by post as we speak.... :brick:

As to how much you will get hit with FedEx, duties are %18, taxes 13% and sometimes you get a $10-15 surcharge added by the courier for the privilege of collecting those duties and taxes for you.  That's the tipping point for me, frankly.  The extra bit of salt in the wound that I just have a hard time accepting.  But yeah, the estimate given of about $400 all in is correct.

I should find out this week but I still remember my EG Galways shock.

Not a bad deal. Was in the outlet on Sunday, and no deals that really stood out. That is unless you like Dolce & Gabbana. They had some crazy markdowns on DG mainline.

Edit: They did have a lot of TF tailored items, including suits and evening wear. But the price was kind of high. 15% off would take the edge off a bit though.

If you're a 15.5-16 there's some nice JP Tilford shirts which come out to $60 after the 25% off dress shirts.

Looks like it's my lucky day...just had CP delivered my brand new GG boots with no extra charges. This feels like Christmas.
