Do the Yorkville & Yorkdale locations carry them?
I find the Square One location to be okay. I didn't expect the selection to be very good, so I was pleasantly surprised that they carry Barena, as well as Zespa and some other "SW&D" brands there. It could have been better, but it could have been much worse.
Suit-wise, they cary Pal Zileri and and Corneliani. They also carry PS by Paul Smith but I didn't bother taking a look at their stuff in further detail. I may be missing another suit brand. If you like Orlebar Brown, they have some stuff tucked away in a corner where the socks are.
In terms of traditional luxury designer labels for men, I only saw Valentino (very small selection) and Gucci footwear. Square One intends to be the Yorkdale of the west GTA, so perhaps the selection will change for the better. Of course, they need to see the demand for higher end labels before bringing it in.
I sense snark in that statement.
I haven't seen Holts carry that many pairs of Nike, New Balance and Addidas before, if at all. On the other hand, their selection of Marcelo Burlon and Off-White suggest that they are aware of the mainland Chinese UTM students in Mississauga.
When I was in the Woolrirdge store I asked if he knew of anyone who did resoling and he said he's got a guy that charges round $150 (if I'm not mistaken).
I suspect will be cheaper and same/better qual:
This came up on a thread on AAAC, but I thought Novelty can resole using a Goodyear welt, while Nick uses Blake. Is this correct or incorrect?
I had some AEs resoled at Novelty and they came back looking exactly the same in terms of construction. Price was $125 (but note that after tax it's more like $140).
Club Monaco is another option, though you could always wait for seconds sales and pray you don't get hit with fees at the border.
The very best and most consistent option is the AE Shoebank. I've used it and wasn't hit with customs duty, but I may have just been lucky. Also the exchange rate isn't as good as if used to be...oh well.
