Samuelsohn for Saks is still at regular price.

There have been quite a few new MTM suit shops opening lately. Hard to tell the quality and customer service for all the new shops. Has anyone had good success with any lately?

And does anyone know about the Suitsupply MTM program here? I've heard it's the specialist from Chicago who flies in to meet with clients. Appreciate your feedback Toronto!

There are some Samuelsohn for Saks pieces for sale on the website. ~$400 CAD for sports jackets and ~$500 CAD for suits.

I've been roaming the Saks sale for a couple of weeks now (I work across the street). There are a few items that could be of interest in the Menswear section but they are certainly for a particular taste. There's a chance you may come across something you love but the selection is limited. I wouldn't get too excited about finding a staple suit or something like that.

There are some nice shirts on sale and I did get a Charvet tie (non-pull) for $120 before the latest mark-down. Footwear is mixed. Not a ton apart from some pretty old manish Ferrangamo loafers as far as more formal stuff goes. The sneakers are obviously the more colourful and fashion forward selections.

The streetwear section probably had some better stuff before being picked over by the UofT millionaires. The racks are pretty full though so you may find something!

Is it just ties or do they have pocket squares as well for sale? Downtown is such a pain in the ass to drive and parking, etc. I see a Saks at the 427 / QEW. I wonder if they are having big sale too

Sherway Saks is quite the bore for men. Caters mostly towards 'fashion' types but not even the right brands (Dsquared, Rag&Bone, Vince, more boring stuff). They do have Isaia and Zegna but not nearly the same section. Some Charvet shirts but weren't on sale last time I checked.

Those are some good markdowns. But why do the suits have an MSRP of ~$2k?

I honestly don't know. I've never looked at the Samuelsohn stuff here at the Saks in TO, so I have no idea what the retail price is. I'm only aware of the prices for the Samuelsohn Performance line of products that they have over at the Bay and they're priced only slightly above $1K.

Was at the sherway saks store yesterday.

Picked up a pair of beige zegna chinos for $80 and flannel grey isaia trousers for $240.

Great sale!

The Isaia jackets and suits were a bit too eccentric for me but priced extremely well with the 40% kicker.

There were also some staple navy zegna suits for about $1200.

I asked if they'd continue to carry isaia going forward given the deep discount and was told they would. At least for the upcoming season.

Might go back to pick up a pair of isaia cords for $180

So it's safe to assume there are no Isaia suits in solid navy or charcoal then?

Unfortunately not.

I later went to harry rosen to see if the competition had forced them to become more competitive with their pricing. As I expected, still the same wildly overpriced merchandise.

Here's hoping Saks sticks around and changes the menswear landscape in Canada. Hopefully Nordstrom has a similar effect.

Has anyone else noticed that despite the signage claiming total markdowns of 75% off, the actual sale is less impressive?

They seem to have actually dropped the prices about 35% initially and now have another 40% off. A reduction of 35% then 40% does not equal 75% off.

That's a great price for the Zegna chinos considering my friend paid $200 for his from the Harry Rosen outlet. Were there any Zegna or Isaia suits or sport coats in size 36?

i was hoping Harry would have a great sale season after Saks coming into town, it was also laughable with suits discounted from $1,800 down to $1,600 but its only worse now with Saks having a sale like they are down the hallway

Yea they were an unadvertised markdown. Regular $495. All in was $80 with tax in staple colours and normal sizes (32-36). Picked up a few for myself, my dad and brother.

Not sure about sizing of the zegna and isaia suits. They definitely had 40/50-54/54 but not sure about 36/46. Had a charcoal zegna with overcheck going for $550.

If you go, ask them to scan the tag because the item might be on steeper sale than is advertised.
