The Ultimate Toronto Thread - Page 155

MTM is typically 6-8 weeks wait. However, I requested for a fitting which they don't normally do. The MTM specialist at RBC was quite knowledgeable and took his time to explain everything in detail. When I got measured, they took photos of me wearing OTR suit jackets and pants to use them as reference. Fabric selection was extensive but I only wanted a classic navy suit.

I only took a picture of the GF pricing.

That's pretty steep for mtm

Golden Fleece is their top line.

I hadn't heard of Mismo, so I just checked them out.  Nice looking bags, but I think I still prefer Filson.  I may be biased though, as I own three Filsons.

this.

top line or not, that's up there for mtm.  WAY up there.

from what they did with mebpwr, he shouldn't need an intermediate fitting.  Trying the OTR stuff on already gave them more than ample info on what needed to be done to the southwick block pattern they built for BB, pre-adjust the block before puttiing it through the machine.

damn thing should come out near perfect the first go given the experience of those people.

If pockets, lapel and first button hole are already cut for the "first fitting"; the first fitting wont serve a 100% purpose

Absolutely on board with

@borbor on the fitting process

To give you an idea you can get a much more customized suit (let's say semi-bespoke with a custom pattern and all the trimmings) with topline fabrics (Ariston and the like) made for $2200-$2800 in Toronto. Baberis won't run you over $1800.

It's 25% off the listed price above.

So starting price is 1500 + tax for a fully canvassed suit.

Not bad.

From what I've read Jack Spade makes good bags too and you can usually find them for much less than retail, which isn't the case with Filson and Mismo as much. I don't think you made the wrong decision.

Yes I like Mismo mostly for the aesthetic and there isn't as much info on durability given it's a fairly young brand. Does anyone have recommendations on where to buy Filson locally at a good price? The cheapest I've seen the briefcase go for is $308 + tax at Brooks Brothers.

I'd be interested to know where I can get that done.

^^ Brooks is your best bet.  15% off with a corporate membership card would be the standard deal.  Most retailers have adjusted their pricing on Filson bags due to the disparity in the CAD/USD.  Brooks hasn't done so yet.

Garrison is pricier, smaller tailors can do it for less. I recently started commissioning stuff with Sox at his new shop on King east. Makes everything in store with the pricing around what I mentioned above. Non appear as expensive as Brooks brothers which surprised me.

hr2 at Vaughan Mills sometimes has Filson, just wait for discount codes at one of their (Filson) stockists.
