Given the rise in Cucinelli prices lately, I doubt it.

Interesting. I wonder if this is still possible or if it was Michael Bastian who decided his prices would be on par with BC itself instead of less expensive if possible.

Avon Celli (or more correctly FBP the concern that owns the brand) also produces a knitwear line called Andrea Fenzi which sells for about 1/2 of what AC does. I think the bergdorf house brand was made to that standard. Barneys also carried FBP made house branded knits that were quite similar to the Bergdorf line in quality and price.

I've have a few of the BG/Cucinelli pieces and they are nowhere near as nice as the mainline Cucinelli knits so I owuld be that it's a similar deal to what FBP was doing for them.

I own two Fenzi's. I plan on eventually giving them away

Is there an RN number in Knitwear?

I only have Macy's nearby and their house label cashmere sweater - Tasso Elba - seems pretty good. I bought 4 of them last year at sale. Retail was $200 each but I paid $60-70 total for all 4. If they get ruined by the dry cleaner, oh well!

I'm curious as to what in your estimation makes the private label and Fenzi knits inferior in quality? I couldn't see much, if any difference, but then again I'm not much of an aficionado when it comes to knits.

I was doing a Google search and came across this thread...

I was astounded by not only the concise and informative discussion, but also the lack of thread trolling. Further, the 'SF cognoscenti' to proletariat thread participation quotient is unbelievably high.

For any newbies, this was the golden age of MC.
