bar setup and barware

Thread Starter
Anyone has any tips or examples for setting up a bar in a small apartment?

It was always one of the first things i wanted 2 do when i get my own place.

And any cool barware that youd know of or can recommend

Nothing too big or extravagant, but it has to fit a modern furnished apartment

I don't know what you mean by not too extravagent, but the Stelton Stainless Steel Cylinda Line by Arne Jacobsen is the modern classic, and I feel still the best looking barware around. For glasses, you can really do anything. If you want to save money, really plain glasses can look cool with very nice bartools. When I am feeling especially stylish, I serve my guests drinks in milk glasses.

I love bars.

Restaurant supply places typically have the bar-specific implements, shakers, the special spoons, etc in stainless -- simple and sleek. Have awesome martini glasses -- Reidel is selling a line in Target-level department stores which is pretty sweet. Skip a stone countertop, get a heavy piece of the appropriate kind of tempered glass, put it on top of Formica or whatever on those little plastic thingies, and put napkins, menus, labels and such underneath.

Oh, and the most important thing -- get good spirits and friends :-).

Best,

Barware can go from strictly industrial to the most extravagant and anti-mass luxury items imaginable.
