The Suits of Spectre (2015), the latest Bond film - Page 14

Skyfall got a lot of praise from plenty of other Bond fans on other forums, and the rest of the movie-going public seemed to like it as well.

Casino Royale is still, probably, Craig's best film of the series, but Skyfall feels the most like a James Bond film (as does Spectre, though it's not quite as well done as Skyfall). The more familiar Bondian elements (a more familiar M, the returns of Q and Moneypenny, a little bit of added humour, the return of Spectre and Blofeld) make the last two films seem more like the Bonds of old. Some/many people like that.

I have enjoyed the reboot thoroughly.  But Spectre just seemed to stumble a bit.  I would put CR and SF as my top with QoS right behind them, then Spectre.  But ask me again after I watch Spectre a few more times.  I hated QoS for the longest time but it really grew on me.  I think that is what I enjoy most about the Bond franchise is that I can rewatch all 24 movies and find something new each time.

You've been led well, I'd go here

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 90

^ Incidentally, that's the best of the films too.

I think I read my first Bond novel sometime in the late 70's or early 80's, but I never got around to reading all of them until I got this edition a couple of years ago.

Here's mine (Click to show)

- with the gloriously remastered DVDs - none are untouched ;-)

Sean was obviously the best Bond. And while Craig may be the best actor to play Bond, he's also my least favourite actor to portray Bond, so this last batch of movies won't be taking up place on the DVD shelf. With the possible exception of Casino Royale, I think they're pretty weak films too.

Ha, I see your raised cased set and raise with 'better looking Brosnan' 1159[1].gif

Brosnan better looking than Craig? Sure. Craig would always have been better cast as the villains buff henchman (would'be been a perfect Red Grant for instance, not that FRWL ever needs remaking).

I know you're not saying that Brosnan was better looking than Sean in his prime. No one is bigstar[1].gif

Well, far be it from me to disagree with the Duchess :-)

Sean is still my favorite Bond. Best looking? No love for Lazenby?

I have all the blu-rays but not the box set. I also bought all 23 on itunes last winter when they were on sale for $99 (yes, for all 23)

Brosnan and Lazenby were probably the most classically handsome Bonds, with Moore not too far behind. But that's not all that goes into being 'good looking' is it.

My favourite Bond films are Dr No, Goldfinger, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Live and Let Die, Goldeneye, Casino Royale and Skyfall. But like most fans here, I love them all to varying degrees. To my mind, there are no bad Bond films. Only good and less good.

I thought Die Another Day was bad.

^ That's because you are not me. I enjoyed DAD, but yes, it's one I consider less good overall.
