Alden Cordovan Longwings - Page 22

I can confirm the 4060 is the high top boot in #8. The 4065 is the version in black.

Sizing question here, assuming you have something from Alden on the Barrie last, did you get the same size in the 4060 boot or did you go half a size up?

Did anyone else order something from teamshoseaport over the weekend only to be told today that they were out of stock on the items that were ordered? I'm bummed that someone else apparently got the last of the long wing burgundy shell cordovans in 11D, although I'm thinking of trying the 10.5Ds since people are saying they run long. There's nowhere else a person would go looking to get these below normal retail, is there?

Alden is difficult to find on discount. You might keep an eye on eBay, but they're rare in my size even there. Plus, shell commands a premium.

Go 1/2 size smaller than your normal size on the Longwings as the Barrie last runs long and wide.

So after much debate and a night where I actually had a dream that I had missed my chance for this deal, I finally placed my order last night for the long wings in burgandy. I was having problems getting my order to go through so I hope they still have my size in stock.

These aren't shell cordovan, but they are long wings, and they are most excellent:

Tom hits another home run.

Tan Scotch grain is one of the classic configurations of the long wing, and it's one that you just don't see on new shoes anymore. I have no idea if Florsheim was the originator of that particular configuration, although they certainly did make it. I think that Tom's intent was to recreate an unavailable (at least, unavailable new) classic style.

Florsheim used to call it, surely somewhat pretentious "Cashmere Calf".

That's just like AE's "Cashmere Suede".

Thanks jcusey - all I can say is he has done good and it is a beautiful shoe and a wonderful take between the heavier old - style USA long wings and the modern preference for lighter brown shades.

I thought long and hard, talked to the sun and the moon, made up my mind and bought (or at least paid for) the burgundy 10.5 from team shoe. The website now shows that size is not available, but I have not heard a peep from team shoe since I placed the order around 11pm Sunday night. I did not expect to have them so quickly, though many of you did receive them so fast, as you document in this thread, but I was expecting at least an order confirmation and/or a FedEx tracking number. So ... FWIW ... they may be a bit more retired than they were two weeks ago. We will see. This afternoon I called the # and got an answering machine after one ring. I'll try again tomorrow.
