Word has it from older threads that vintage Nettleton Shell Cordovans contained finer stitching work and were better built then current American made Shells. They were a superior manufacturer until they ventured into the exotic skins and the situation got very strange before all was said and done.

I have a pair of shell Nettletons on Ebay at the moment....plain toes not wings. They are nicely made, indeed.

Inspired by this thread, I wore a pair of vintage cordovan Imperial Kenmoors with rolled denim and received three compliments today.

Mind you, I was in Chelsea so it may not have been the shoes.

ive seen cordovan shoes from other makes before, and none has moved me this much as these longwings from Alden.
so it is not just the fact they are cordovan.

to others,
some won't think the longwing gunboats are sexy or beautiful.
there are different tastes and different types of shoes. different genres. we can embrace all styles cant we? why do we have to be absolute and say , i hate that , because i like this. for me, i can like this. and like that.
there is enough time in life and space in the closet to have a pair of beautiful ornate gunboats.
not just all sleek , light, elegant english business shoes.

it is fine if you dont like it because it is not your taste.

but to not understand the shoe because it does not look elegant like every other shoe in your wardrobe ...that is what i am addressing

This is the Beyonce of shoes!

Nobody has mentioned yet the ultimate of Alden Longwings in shell cordovan, colour ‘whiskey’.
For years it was the crowning glory of Adam Knott’s (Alden-of-Carmel) ‘Fanshoe’ collection.

Thank God, I got my pair maybe four years ago.

Here is a pair that found its way to Japan.
Over the weekend, I’ll take a picture of my shoes.

Alas, he does not offer them at present. I believe, whiskey shell cordovan is in incredible short supply and almost impossible to get.
But ‘whiskey’ and ‘ravello’ (caramel fudge) are the best colours in shell.

God, who wants to wear always the same type of shoe. Variety is the spice of life:

With blondes it is his habit
To praise their kindness;
In brunettes their faithfulness;
In the very blonde their sweetness.
In winter he likes fat ones,
In summer he likes thin ones.
He calls the tall ones majestic.
The little ones are always charming.
He seduces the old ones
For the pleasure of adding to the list.

whiskey definitely is in short supply and it would be like hitting a lottery if you can get one anytime soon in a long wing, but for me, other than the rarity of the color, i like the #8 color much better than the whiskey. also , it does not really help i have not seen whiskey in person anyways, so i dont have any merit to my opinion above.

I challenge anyone here who is looking to investing $500 in a pair of luxury shoes right now to look into Alden 975 longwings. you will not regret it. there is nothing like it.
it truly is a pair of shoes i am proud that is made in USA.
the Alden shop is still family-run and the owners know all the factory workers by name still. very artisan business compared to Allen Edmonds.

Hey Brian,

If they make a pair of Santoni FAM in either #8 or whiskey, wouldn't that just make your day?
