I pinched my sciatic nerve and holy SHIT! my back/ass/legs hurt like hell. It happened two Wednesdays ago, and it's not getting any better (which is apparently unusual).

This was a gift from my boss. I kept it for a few months before I just sold it. It is pretty solid. Made in USA. You can't beat the quality. If I needed a sterling silver money clip I would buy a...

I just picked this up and I am pretty pleased. Just what I expected. I am pleased with the Bark. However, I wish it was a little darker. A great deal for $35. Comparable to other belts in the...

Sciatic nerve

Last year (Feb 06) I pulled a disc which then pinched the sciatic. Pain down the left leg to the point where my three smallest toes were numb. Lasted several months, included lasting back pain which shows how important the back is to very simple tasks -- such as, putting socks on, tying shoes, grabbing a pen, etc. Finally went through a series of 3 epidurals which totally solved the problem. Even though I gained 30 lbs as a result of the steroids, i would highly recommend it. You may get relief after one or two and it may also last.

if you are still tying to move around and live like nothing has happened, it's not "unusual" for the pain persist. i've had a sciatica nerve problem off and on for years. when you continue to use and move the muscles they don't get a chance to rest and stay swollen. although a pain in the arse because you want to get up and get back to normal but less is more.

I second the recommendation to see a chiropractor. I have a bunch of herniated disks in my low back and I swear by my chiropractor.
By the way, I think you developed this problem from having weak back muscles. You should really start working out and focusing on exercises that strengthen your core. You might want to do things like planks and maybe some swiss ball work. When your back starts to feel better I'd consider some deadlifting with weights that you can safely handle and absolute perfect form.

I had better luck with physio therapy, active release(form of massage) and accupuncture than I did with chiropractic when I had sciatica. It still flares up once in while, primarily due to stress, but that is a whole other story.
The trick with it is to really work on core strength so your muscles are "supporting" your weight more than your bones. Swiss ball excercises, stretching, isometrics and range of motion excercises wil reduce it.
