5EP x SF jean post pics - Page 9

Just got mine in 29. They're tight throughout the leg, but the top block is fairly relaxed (no effort required to button up; am wearing them 4" below navel and can see myself being able to slouch them with some wear). I'm not used to seeing my skinny legs in such skinny jeans and am not sure whether I like the look. How much would the fit of these change after going for a 20 mile hike in them? I'm hoping the skinny look might grow on me as the denim gets softer and stretched out a bit. Even with some stretch, though, these will never be versatile jeans for me... can only see myself wearing them with tight t-shirts or hoodies. Love the 5EP denim! The details are great, too, except for the non-contrast fly (makes the front rise look weird until some fading) and the useless coin pocket.

^ I think the fit looks great. I find that slouching a bit with skinnier jeans helps to loosen up the look so that it doesn't seem so tight and constraining.

Yeah, I think my plan with these might be to wear them hard without a belt so that I can slouch them, which will work well with the ultra-casual clothes they'll go with. Normally, with more relaxed jeans, I'm not at all a fan of the slouched look, but I think skinny fits necessitate it (and make it look better).

Thanks for the assurances, gents -- looks like I'll be keeping the 29s. Been wearing them for several hours and I'm already warming up to the fit. It's interesting how it takes your eyes time to recalibrate whenever you experiment with a new silhouette, even if you've seen (and liked) that look on other people. I was always skeptical of denim connoisseurs' proclamations about polychromatic jeans, but no more. The colors in the 5EP denim are amazing -- even before any fading!

I could actually slouch the jeans right off the bat, and there was space in the thighs and calves. The size 32 were way big on me in all dimensions.

For kicks, I tried on a pair of 29. Do not recommend doing that. Nearly autocastrated myself.

Can I buy any of the pairs you wore. I'll even pay extra *blushes*

How is the bleeding for these jeans?

Indigo does come off, obviously. I spilled a little water on my pair and the napkin I wiped it off with was pretty blue...

I've searched all these 5EPxSF threads in search of a statement like "I wear size 30 in APC NS, which sit snugly on my hips, and my new 5EPxSF in size ___ fit great!"

Someone please fill in the blank!

+1. If you're a 30 in NS, you are almost certainly a 32 in the 5EPs.

Got my 31s late yesterday, wearing them today. They're awesome, not at all tight in the calves. I'll post pics once I can get my sorry ass into gear.

Hang on Sauce, aren't you a 28 in ns yet your wearing 31 in 5ep ?

Yep. As I tried to explain elsewhere, I think the sizing of the jeans at 30 and below makes them proportionally skinnier in the small sizes than they are in the large sizes. The waist of the 30s was a better fit, but the legs were much skinnier, particularly at the knee and below. By contrast, the waist of the 31s is only a little bit loose, but the legs are completely different. Much roomier at the knees and below the calves; they're pretty much perfect throughout the leg.

I am expecting that the 32s, being more similar to the 31s in leg proportion than the 30s, will be fine for someone who sizes down to 30 in the APC New Standard.
