Our posters own some beautiful automobiles and love talking about them. True, this thread occasionally devolves debates between what type of luxury call to rent (S-class, C-class, Z-class?), but at its best it’s a repository of particular knowledge and beautiful images. And hell, the barrier of entry isn’t that high either: for every rare, tricked out Porsche, there’s someone with a lovingly maintained mid-90s BMW coupe. Seriously, check it out.
Motorcycles
As an alternative to our car thread, we have our awesome motorcycle thread. It’s much more insular than our car thread, and much more focused on the lifestyle of owning a motorcycle instead of the specific types of motorcycles on the market. It’s entertaining though, especially as an outsider with no knowledge of what motorcycles can do and what makes a good bike vs. a bad bike. There’s also a persistent fashion element that harkens back to our original purpose here: if you own a motorcycle, you have to buy a bunch of motorcycle gear.
Bikes
…And we have our bicycle thread. A mix between a pure bike thread (look at this fancy bike I bought! Let’s talk about commuting in the winter and in a city without designated bike lanes!) and an exercise cycling thread, it’s a good place for beginning and expert alike. I think that what makes some of our non-fashion topic threads excellent: they’re introductions into a subject, there are a few expert posters, but, unlike threads on topic-specific forums, they’re still open to anyone. Cool beans.
