This current violence really kicked off when TAK murdered those two cops. It's been a snowball ever since.

well bolstering friendly dicator's negotiating position is hardly nobel worthy, but still beats the one Obama got for nothing

Obviously nobody will care "because Africa" but it would appear the gunmen who carried out the beach attacks in Ivory Coast were sitting at the bar enjoying beers beforehand.

False flag, claim of withdrawal only?
He needs to arm Kurds openly, while making secret oil deal with OPEC. Putin is too cautious and too reactionary that is why he always needs to catch up instead of making first moves. In chess he would be always playing defense and loose most of the time.

Everything in this article is terrifying. It's only a matter of time before HDP is banned and its leadership imprisoned.

I am not in favor of the deal because it would affect my life somewhat negatively, but that is immediate effect. What about long historical perspective of that deal? Isn't it why EU is going for it? Without membership in EU Turkey will most likely slide into cultural backwardness. This is the only motivation I can see in actions of Brussels towards Turkey.
One can argue ,of course that Turkey has been quasi-democracy for almost 100 years and Turkish example had very little effect on Arab countries.

Iran-backed Shia militias form armed branches for political parties, and now they seem intent on sticking around and making their presence felt ....

‘We do not understand the movement, and until we do, we are not going to defeat it. ... We have not defeated the idea. We do not even understand the idea.’

Interesting read on the newest wave of foreign fighters (I think Belgium is the largest contributor as % of muslim population, 800 per million or something like that ?)

Looking at what happened there today, the Parisian terrorists and the fact they managed to hide the worlds most wanted man for 3+ months, I wouldn't be surprised that Belgium is the leading contributor.
