ethan's Musing on the Near East - Page 91

you shouldn't trust western either they are as biased as Russia Today and I am not even kidding sadly... you can watch both for some time then even if they don't lie they will only feature the material that suits their agendas. News in my country is particularly terrible.

I don't really know what you guys mean by "western media," if you mean CNN etc then sure. I tend to get SAA news through rebel sources because Asad supporters are usually rabid dickheads.

As opposed to Hizbullah terrorists? Ahrar and Nusra guys may be terrorists but a lot of them are way more sensible in their reporting than Asad supporters.

I genuinely respect everyone's nuanced understanding of the M.E. in this thread. I've compartmentalized. I'm OK blowing stuff up to save Christians, and protecting Israel, but aside from that, the M.E. is simply too--er--diverse--to know what to do with *flamingo*.

What was Merkel thinking? Now, for Octoberfest, we will watch children have their hands cut off and stoned as the brass band plays Bavarian folk songs.

Here's some nuanced understanding for you, Lighthouse!

Lighthouse noone and i mean noone has ever bombed anyone in the middle east for the sake of christians. Not since the french sent them weapons centuries ago.

Even the english historiclaly were always supporting some muslims against middle easternvchristians.

And todau the western and especially american policies have treated christians as disposable at best. Noone has suffered more from american policies in the region than christians.

And when Christians were supported, they massacred Palestinians under Israel's watch.

Alan is 100% right, west is doing nothing to stop genocide of Christians in Syria, in fact they are aiding the efforts of Al-Nusra who is not that far from ISIS in terms of violence vs Christians, so yeah they have been treated like shit to say the least

Russia Today is a propaganda outlet for the Russian government. Garbage that should be ignored.

Yes it is, but our media for example cnn, bbc, fox, news in my country is just as biased imo. Coverage of migrant crisis(for example how Hungary was smeared in european media), coverage of Ukraine crisis was very one sided. In situations when national interests clash you can expect our media to do the same as RT. I watch our news, I watch RT frankly it is only slightly more biased than ours, and that's sad.

not that I care that much, I'm not even a christian or theist for that that matter but overall jihadists groups don't have very good record for respecting other beliefs

The problem with any news outlet is that journalists generally don't know what they're talking about.

Most western (european) media is left-wing liberal, so they only give the Merkel side of the story.

Lol. Thats just silly ethan.

The Sabra and Chatila massacre was perpetrated by a group of criminals (even by militia standards then) and enraged fighters who had directly lost family in the Damour massacre.

If you want to dramatize one incident for the sake of a reply, go ahead. We are talking about policies.

It was the "christian-ruled" Lebanon that welcomed palestinian refugees in the first place, and most camps are on lands offered by the christian church. And christians as a community or state when they had it have not persecuted nor retaliated against palestinians, syrians nor muslims.
