@THE_47th: Russian troops In Syria are a legit target. They should be treated like Assad's militias, ISIS, Hizbollah & any other group killing Syrians.

I can't stand when people term protests for reform as "anti-government." These people aren't anarchists. They're people who want equal rights under the government.

But yeah, the UN is a joke.

Did anyone think Russian troops were there to fight ISIS?

There was a question of how offensively they were going to act. Whether they would be piloting sorties or just there for support. It's one of things everybody "knew" but didn't know if that makes sense.

So who are the CIA backed rebels exactly? I thought they only managed to train 5 guys.

Or is the cia back to its old habits of training al qaeda

There are two train and equip programs. The CIA has been training and equipping FSA units since the beginning. One of the more well known is (was) Harakat Hazm which was gobbled up by Nusra. All the videos you see of TOW missiles are CIA trained FSA rebels. The CIA program has produced thousands of rebels.

^ So basically Russia is attacking mainly alqaeda, isis, or some pseudo-alqaeda, which have in the past been directly or indirectly supported by CIA training and weapons.

And the US and NATO are criticizing Russia for that.

Im just saying, the US trained those 5 guys and said its trying to create a moderate rebel army, as opposed to the radicals elsewhere.

Then when Russia strikes suddenly those guys become "rebels" in western statements. Yet none of them have ever said who are the rebels, and who are the terrorists. Im starting to think those rebels are as mythical as unicorns.

It's so fucked that it's not worth supporting anybody except the YPG and Liwa Suwar ar-Raqqa. Russia is going to accelerate the process of people either turning to AQ/ISIS or fleeing for Europe.

Russian jets launched a second day of air strikes in Syria on Thursday, targeting areas held by an insurgent alliance that includes a group linked to al Qaeda, but not the Islamic State militants Moscow said it had hit.

Today they hit "The Army of Conquest" .....

Hundreds of Iranian troops have arrived in Syria to join a major ground offensive on behalf of President Bashar al-Assad's government, Lebanese sources said on Thursday, a further step in the rapid internationalization of a civil war in which every major country in the region has a stake.
