HEB store brand yogurt nearly every day between breakfast and lunch. Gotta have that calcium.

I have Danon All-Natural Cherry in the fridge now. It's OK.

I like frozen yogurt and think we need a Pinkberry in DC.

Brown Cow Organic Cream Top. Has a bit of calories with the cream top but it's quite good. Get some granola and berries, mmm.

This one is very good, but to me, it tastes more/has the texture of what is called Fromage blanc in France. I nonetheless will buy that before any other plain yogurt brands offered in the US. It makes a great basil/lemon sauce for grilled fish. Trader Joe's in my region carries the brand.

Otherwise, I stay away from the candy aisle in major US supermarkets.

Our neighbors in France own a small yogurt factory called Pechalou. I hear that it is some of the best in France, but I can't stand the stuff.

Can anyone confirm whether this is true? I've heard this lately, they even make drinks with living cultures inside. I would think that the stomach would kill/digest most kinds of bacteria.

I agree Fabienne, it tastes a little different then French yogurts. I wonder if it is because it is strained...? But the fact that it is (strained), makes it a wonderful cooking yogurt (Indian recipes, etc.)

Currently, Whole Foods is selling a brand called "Rachel's" that is one of the best-tasting pre-flavored.

There's another I've seen made of whole buffalo milk that is very good, but extraordinarily rich.

Eat yogurt every morning since gf made some food and got vilently ill. Stonyfield is supposedly the best. It has all those live cultures-6 or so.

At night I will have either a rasberry or peach Yoplait and in the mornings at Mangia I'll get some "real" yogurt with fruit/granola.

The best I've had was the last time I was in Europe...a German brand that I can't remember (might have started with a M).

Can't say that I've read the literature on Activa ("bifidus regularis" is just their marketing company renaming a strain). The basic idea of an active-culture or probiotic in yogurt is that it adds to the bacterial flora naturally found in your intestines, bacteria that help reduce symptoms such as diarrhea and constipation while aiding in digestion. The stomach isn't the microbe killing machine most people are lead to believe. Many viruses, toxins, bacterias, and prions are HCl-resistent.

Fage plain 0% fat is better than most other brands full-fat offerings. I usually cut up a piece of juicy fruit into it. Trader Joe's carries Fage at a good price. Wallaby, at Whole Foods, is a special treat, albeit one you can eat every day.

Koiwai "makiba" is the best I've ever tried
