I've seen a 30x34 Alpha at Marshall's a few times. Of course it might be a few "seasons" old.

I've bought a few of their chinos/dress pants before. Quality was terrible. All the buttons would fall off, threads coming loose all over. Way overpriced and I got them on sale.

Does anyone have J Crew chinos in urban slim fit? Would you be so kind as to post a picture so I can see how slim the fit is?

I've noticed that there are various kinds of chino material and I'm curious whether there's a name for the various types. For ex. the difference between these pictures

Mercer-St.-New-York-lookbook-young-men-umbrella1.jpg

Brooksfield-Italia-Veloce-menswear-style-fashion.jpg

Well, the second picture may not even be chinos, but there are chinos that have that kind of texture and are obviously different from the first picture.

Can someone tell me which category Dockers fall into? Are there names for these different types?

I did some searching around and apparently there's a cloth called cramerton or polished cotton (if they are indeed the same thing), is that the kind that's in the first picture? What is the other type called, canvas?

How many types of fabric are chinos made in?

You can look at Club Monaco - I just picked up their Kennedy Fit trousers in lightweight navy and khaki - they fit well and are on sale!

Have you ever looked at Epaulet's rivet chino, I hear they are good.

Just curious - anyone know what weight the Dockers Alphas are? Want to buy some more summer appropriate chinos (thinking Baron Wells, probably) but not sure where my Alphas are as a reference point.

Alpha khakis are on the heavy side, not sure what weight exactly.  Walked around on a hot day with mine and they were a little much.

Any recommendations on slim fit khakis that have a high rise?

From personal experience ...

Fairly high rise:
Incotex/Mabitex
Dockers Soft Khakis D1
Lands End Canvas

Mid-rise:
J.Crew Classic Fit
Dockers Alpha Khakis

Low-rise:
Uniqlo Antique Vintage Chinos
Levi's 511 or 514 khakis

Really awful quality. Used to have a pair last year, but they fell apart after two washings.

They look really good, but I'm curious how they are in quality/fit to some of the UNIS or W+H offerings, and haven't had any luck finding them in person.

My roommate got some and I tried them on. Size 31 fits me perfectly and the material is perfect for summer. Construction is great. Almost the perfect summer chino (or if you live in a semi-tropical climate, three-season chino).
