Saw David McCallum (of NCIS and Man From Uncle) in my local McDonald's about a year back, and just saw Timothy Hutton (of Leverage and Ordinary People) at the Gap where I work on Tuesday night.

I was serving as the verger at a funeral, when into the church walked a man wearing a baseball cap. I was about to ask him to take the cap off ... until I realized that it was a Giant's cap and the man was Willie Mays.

He is a great guy, or at least really nice to kids. When I was young we used to trick or treat at his house, and he gave away baseballs, one out of each ten was signed by him. Always answered the door himself, to a big fan like me, it was a kick.

Should I have ... I would have. Asking Willie Mays to take off his cap would have been an insult to the deceased.

In San Diego when I was 14, a friend and I stepped into an elevator that contained Pauly Shore and a lot of marijauna smoke. When we stepped out and went into my friend's dad's place, he accosted us and asked why we smelled like 'pot smoke'. He didn't believe that it was Pauly Shore's fault.

Just to give some background on this next story, I've often been told I look like Kiefer Sutherland, although it's just one of those vague resemblance things that everyone gets at some point, I don't think I really do look like him.

Anyway, I was once visiting my parents as they were travelling through New Mexico, they called me and had me meet them at a decent restaurant. When I got there, my dad was waiting by the front door and directed me to go back to a private dining area, said he was on his way to the restroom and would be there in a minute.
When I went into the back room, I see my mom, Kiefer and some other people were sitting around a large table. He stands up and says, "Hi, Gary, I hear you're my biggest fan!"
I guess they'd set it all up to surprise me. Although I'm not his 'biggest fan' by a long shot (I don't dislike him or anything, I just don't have any '24' memorabilia lying around the house, if you know what I mean). I went over and shook his hand and then sat down as everyone stared at me like I was supposed to squeal like a school girl and run around the room. Probably the most notable event from the evening was when my mom told him, "You know, Kiefer, girls say Gary looks just like you!" and he said, awkwardly,"Oh. Thanks."
Thanks mom.

No one ... especially given his connection to the deceased ... and the fact that he was there to speak of their baseball connection. I think God (assuming God has a conscience) would forgive him.

On the other hand ... my change of thought in the middle of a sentence ... and subsequent failure to edit "were I should have" is totally unforgivable. This is worse than eating shrimp with a salad fork.

Met George Clinton of Parliament fame at a bar in St. George Island last night. He was taking a break from his teaching duties at FSU he said.

Also when I was in Copenhagen a few months ago I was getting tea at this teahouse there and I was convinced the red head chick from Sex and the City was sitting across from me.

Yes drinking pitchers of Bloody Mary's. WTF. Even more WTFish was that when my sister reviewed the pics there was a giant wet spot on his crotch. Did you happen to go to Harry A's last night? I think around 8ish. He was well gone when I arrived. Edit again: so wait, I was at Harry A's Christmas and Boxing Day nights. GC was there on Christmas.

That bar is a damn good time. Something about that island makes people drink their faces off. No, I didn't make it that night, we had just driven down for the day out of boredom, ate dinner at the Parrot (overpriced tourist crapfest), and left around nine thirty-ish. Now I wish we stayed, damn.
