Unexpected encounters with celebrities - Page 143

Did he have San Diego surfer dude hair?

He had Rod Stewart hair. At first I thought some guy was wearing a very clever costume.

It's like when I ran into John Cusack and he was wearing basketball shoes, sweat pants and a raincoat. This was ten years after Say Anything.

I did this at a trendy rooftop club in the Gansevoort in NYC; except instead of a diplomat it was the two tall and ridiculously expensively-dressed daughters of some Russian oligarch (I surmise). Their Russian two security guards, about 5'9 tall with thick necks and shoulders about as wide as they were tall (so it seemed, at least) -- I think they are called flatheads or somesuch, were also not amused. I didn't put the pieces together until I saw that the two dudes were wearing earpieces.

Your guy's guard probably had a gun though; don't know about these guys. One of them was packing an Amex Black Centurian card, though -- first and only time I had ever seen one was when he presented it to the maitre'd.

A few weeks ago I saw Martin Amis right around the corner from my apt in Brooklyn. Turns out he lives a few doors down and now I see him a few times a week.

This afternoon I went to The Drawing Center in Soho on a whim. I walked in and I was the only person there, until David Lynch walked in two minutes after me. We exchanged pleasantries and then he went to go look at the Franz Kafka sketchbooks they had on display with the gallery owner and some other lady. I kind of followed him around to check out his reactions to things. He seems really cheery.

Not unexpected, but met Marlon Wayans during a Q&A at a sneak peak of his upcoming movie. Cool dude.

I'm out of thumbs, but this really warranted some praise.
