What struck me was the way the guy's finger tips played along the edge - it took a second to realize that his middle finger was missing the last two digits. Did he look like my avatar?

I've heard a similar story elsewhere, about someone running into Jerry and his GF at MOMA. Jerry was very gracious; GF was not.

John Waters (Serial Mom, Hairspray, CryBaby, Pink Flamingos, etc...) is a regular at The Ottobar in Baltimore. We've bought each other drinks many times - he's a very sweet guy and usually goes out by himself and just likes to meet and talk to people.

Are you guys romantically involved?

I know it's a little dusty , but Matt's SF reference jogged my memory and the regional tie-in (unlike many encounters) seemed so poignant. This would have been '92 or '93, so he was very much alive, although not far from the end....

No, Jerry was in his final stages - big beard, lightblue(rose?) tinted shades, drab baggy t-shirt, black jeans, and grey sneaks (Nike or NB). He did smile back at me and kind of wink....

What are you insinuating about Mr. Waters

Sometimes it`s hard to recognize celebrities in their natural state. They must have special effects make up on or something when they are on TV or the movies.

Off the top of my head, I remember getting a hair cut next to one of the girls from Girls Next Door, but I didn`t recognize her for about 15-30 minutes. I saw another one of the girls (on a separate day) but only recognized her because of her loud distinctive laugh (after 15 minutes or so).

My wife and I saw Halle Berry (she goes to the same brow salon as my wife) but I didn`t recognize her even after my wife was telling me to LOOK! LOOK!...I was like WHERE! WHERE! (I never thought she looked THAT good with make up, but without it she looks horrific).

For the Japanese fans, I saw Yoshiki with his GF recently too.

Although I've seen many pictures and talk-show appearances by Halle Berry (including a movie, perhaps?) and Sheryl Crow, they always look different to me each time I see them.

Three:

1- Sat on a plane from Ft Myers to Charlotte next to this older fellow with a permatan and platinum blond hair. People kept reaching over me to ask for his autograph. My curiosity got the better of me and I asked him who he was. The answer: The Pretty Boy Ric Flair.

2 - I rounded a corner in the meatpacking district in New York and slammed into this tiny chick. Not like your usual sidewalk bump: she was so small I initially thought it was a kid, and I was afraid I had hurt her. When she smiled and said she was OK, I realized it was Natalie Portman. Smoking hot, by the way.

3 - I was walking down 5th avenue when this guy walking towards me glances at the guy walking in front of me and starts freaking out in Italian. It turned out to be Paolo Maldini from AC Milan and Italy. It was funny because nobody else had ANY idea who he was but this guy totally lost it - it was like the scene from Coming To America.

I sat next to some guy on a flight to egypt last month, no idea who he was, but a dozen people came over to say hello, including the captain and co-pilot and all of the stews. I am guessing he is some egyption movie actor.

I ran in to Alessandro Nesta (also AC Milan & Italian nat'l team) & Marco Di Vaio (then Juve & Azzurri) in front of Walgreen's on 14th Street acouple of years ago. Even though Milan had won the Champions League just a week earlier, no one recognized them. I think European footballers dig the U.S. for this reason.....

Out of curiousity, were they super skinny? The soccer players I have seen have been tiny.

I don't know why I remember this, but I saw Andrew McCarthy in Virginia Beach about 13 years ago.
