Unexpected encounters with celebrities - Page 82

A few years ago I ran into Larry King at FAO Schwarz. He looked like an unwrapped mummy and he was there with his toddler kids. Also his head is effing huge.

Negatory, although mine pale in comparison to a friend's who works at Fred Segal.

This may not count, but I was in the Presidential Honor Guard in the 80's and saw dozens of celebs at State Dinners during Reagan's second term. Too many to list, but a few stand out.

I opened the door on the gray Rolls for Prince Charles when he and Diana came to DC in about 1985 or so. (Drew lots to see who got to open Diana's door and lost). She was absolutely stunning.

Raquel Welch was an amazing presence.

Miles Davis - pretty awe inspiring. Looked up out of the blackness of his limo like a demon that didn't particularly want to get summoned.

Walter Matthau in a tux and a crumpled old cotton fishing hat.

Michael York was the nicest - he just came walking down the road and checked in through the security shed, no limo. Big smile, said hello, chatted a bit. I idolized him for The Three Musketeers.

Margaret Thatcher secretly came and went a lot, sometime a couple of times a week. Put her on and off Marine helicopters a dozen times. Her and Ronnie were quietly planning for a post-Soviet world, little did we know.

Went to a friends house and her friend was dating one of the lead wrench dudes from one of thoes American Chopper shows on Discovery. I thought the guy had worked on my car or something as he looked familiar (and was dressed like he just left the shop), then he told me he was on TV and I recognized the guy. Apparently he goes to the bar in his workshop clothes covered in oil, I guess so people "recognize the guy", he wasn't very friendly. Met Vince Vaughn a couple times and Jason Long (the Im a Mac guy), talked to them shortly. Friendly fellas to common people. I've meet several other people as well, don't remember. Had the chance to see the president talk (obama), but ended up passing up the opportunity. Saw Bush walking into a building....

Went to the LCD SOundsystem show at the Hollywood palladium last night and walked right past Jonah Hill (fat guy from superbad) and his buddy. I glanced and his eyes were red as fuck...must be pollen.

Recent encounters. Ian MacKaye from Minor Threat at my office, spoke with him for an hour or so about touring & fighting through my home country of England, nice guy. Kristen Stewart at The Little Door Los Angeles (very hot in person) and Elijah Wood at The Little Next Door both waiting in the valet line. Johny Knoxville and crew at The Roost Bar Los Feliz/Atwater Los Angeles. Jamie Foxx being chased by Paparazzi into BOA Steakhouse on Sunset.

Sarah Jessica Parker was in Tokyo last week for the Japanese premiere of Sex In the City 2. She and her entourage ended up at the Oak Door Bar in the hotel they were staying at (Grand Hyatt). I realized that a lot of photos must have been generously airbrushed and photoshopped. She had some pretty awful-looking batwings
