A sad day for beer lovers

The world's greatest beer writer, Michael Jackson, has died. http://www.cnn.com/2007/LIVING/08/31....ap/index.html In 1992, a friend gave me his New World Guide to Beer as a Christmas present, and to this day, it is one of the best gifts I have ever gotten. Anyone who has read Jackson knows what I am talking about. He was a passionate advocate for beer culture, long before it was trendy in the US, writing with humor and a lust for life. If you love beer and have never read anything by him, do yourself a favor this weekend and get his New World Guide. It is a real treasure. Cheers, Michael.

He's the man. I learned a ton about beer from his writings. RIP

I bought that book for a friend for his birthday a couple of years ago, and the trickle down knowledge I got back from it made it more than worth it. Sorry to hear that he went relatively young.

My god........if Elton John, Keanu Reeves, or Michael Vick had died, it wouldn't have hardly affected me at all. But Michael Jackson....this man shaped the perception and popularity of beers in the last decade at least.

I just got a shipment of malt & hops yesterday, I'll be brewing a batch of beer in his memory tonight.
