Is flirtation a lost art?

Since there's a thread on the PUA, I thought this may interest some. It's about the "lost art" of flirtation and the ideal pace of courtship. Opinions? Especially from Asian SF'ers because of (perceived?) cultural differences. And from older guys who hail from a bygone era...

I think flirtation is a good thing...and dating too.. what do you mean courtship? That is very formal I understand.. I dont think that would work today.

I think flirtation has been replaced by flashing. Not that I disapprove.

Courtship? Traditionally it was that period between first acquaintance and marriage (or engagement), and was measured in months (if not years). Now, it's the period between first acquaintance and sex - and it's usually measured in days (if not hours).

Astor's point, if I understand her correctly, is that a prolonged courtship (full of flirtation) heightens the pleasures of romance, while instant gratification only circumvents them.

I sent a woman I recently met flowers today. Does that count?

It's apparently alive and well in the Minneapolis airport.

You tell me. Did you feel "more pleasure"? Was it good for you, too?

Seriously, sending flowers is pretty old-school. I think Mme Astor would've approved.

I'm trying to woo her pretty hard but here comes the modern twist to this, she's staying at my place this weekend.

Please tell me this isn't going to be one of those "I took her out to nice meals and entertained her all weekend and let her have my bedroom while I slept on the couch, and then she went home to her boyfriend" stories.

Boy, you don't waste any time, do you? Staying at your place?! Mme Astor is very unhappy.

What kind of flowers did you send her?

Even worse, it could be one of those "I took her out to nice meals and entertained her all weekend and let her have my bedroom while I slept on the couch, and then she went home to her husband" stories.
