I wrote him a pretty detailed response with my opinion already if you scroll up some. Whacked seems to have good advice too; we'll see his opinion.

^^ Well I'd like to know what his goals are first. Seems like his calorie intake is right at, if not below maintainance. With an underworked metabolism, it's entirely possible to not lose weight at this rate. If he wants to lose fat while minimizing muscle loss, continuous aerobic exercises (read: cardio or certain sports) for >= 30 minutes at least 3 times a week + some weightlifting are the minimum.

Size gains, on the other hand, are definitely out of reach, while strength development depends largely on the exercises, form and intensity. "40 min. of weights with a PT", however vague that might be, sounds awfully lacking.

Lots of personal trainers piss me off. I love walking into the gym and seeing a personal trainer have a 50 year old woman doing bicep curls on a machine. How is that tiny little muscle going to help her progress in weight loss in the greater scheme of things? It's stupid; it's all a show for so many trainers.

I believe in heavy compound movements that really work the body. People have the misconception that if they're old or female that those things aren't for them-- resistance is resistance.

Can you explain your workout and supplement schedule? The reason I ask is I am getting conflicting information. For example, some people say take creatine 5 hours before a workout (so it can absorb) then immediately after. Others say only take it 1 hour before, none after. And finally, others say take half 1 hour before and half after. I've also read about two scoops with a shaker full of water of protein whereas my product says 1 scoop (3 tsp) for 6-8 oz (about 1/3 of my shaker capacity). Some people say you shouldn't mix creatine with citrus (ie orange juice) because the acid kills the active ingredient. Then they say you can mix it with grape juice ... which is acidic too, right?

I am looking for a guide of what to take and when on off and on days.

I mix creatine with orange juice. It works fine. I drink orange juice with one scoop of Cellmass and one scoop of NOXplode in the morning, and the same 30 minutes prior to each workout, and have a water bottle with one scoop of each mixed with water that I drink during the workout. On non-lifting days, I just drink the orange juice with one scoop of each in the morning.

Sorry, I am new to this so help me out with using supplement names instead of name brands. So you take 1 scoop of creatine (Cellmass) and one scoop of Nitric Acide (NoXplode) with OJ in the morning. Another combo before workout, another one during the workout.

What about after? Do you take creatine post workout? Where does your protein shake come into play on on and off days? Do you take multivitamins or fish oil?

I take one scoop of cellmass after my workout. From what I've gathered, when you take it is irrelevant because after it's absorbed into your muscles it stays there and isn't 'used' until the next day anyways, which is probably why you're getting conflicting answeres. I don't take any on my off days, but I've read that it's a good idea to take half of your usual dosage on off days. It's expensive and not 100% necessary so I don't make it priority. I take mine it water because the cellmass I take is CEE and already contains the components to properly absorb. If you have creatine monohydrate then it definitely should be taken in some sort of juice-- and drizzt is massive so I'm sure the orange juice method works

Just remember, DRINK LOTS OF WATER!

Cellmass and NOXplode both contain creatine, and are both by BSN. NOXplode also contains NO boosters but I mostly take it because it's a pretty good mix of CEE/caffeine and its easier than mixing it myself, while cell mass contains L-glutamine and other BCAA and is good for recovery. Sometimes I will take cellmass with water immediately following workouts, if they're intense enough.

I drink protein shakes every morning and night, and immediately after weight training, and take fish oil/flaxseed oil in the morning and evening as well. I take one multivitamin in the evening. I'm currently cutting so my diet is about 55% protein/30% carb/15% fat and is primarily composed of chicken, with almost all my carbs coming from juices/vegetables. I've lost about 20 lb this cycle so far (in 2 months) and am still using creatine so I don't think too many of the losses are from water.

I also take Cellmass which is CEE. How does it "help you absorb" and why doesn't creatine mononhydrate absorb? Why would taking monohydrate with citrus make a difference?

There's a big debate about whether CEE has higher bioavailability than creatine monohydrate. In any case, I typically supplement about 20-25g/day of CEE during lifting days at the moment, a bit more during bulking than my current cutting phase. Some people say that only about 10g of CEE is necessary as opposed to 20-30g of CMH but I'm not sure that I buy that.

I am 5'11, 185. I am visually overweight in my gut. How many hours should I exercise per day?
