Water Conditioner - Rainsoft

We had a Rainsoft demonstration at our home. We live in the central Florida by the way. According to him and his selected news sources, our water is unclean. Like most people, I am doubtful of products that are sold door to door but his demonstrations look pretty legit. He used this mineral filter for the demonstration because obliviously they couldn't install system before us buying it. He gave us a price for $7000 but now he's willing to go to $2500. So does anyone have experience with this company? Or does have any advice on water conditioners/softners in general? Rainsoft is willing to wait until the end of week with that price. They seem pretty confident with their product..

That sound like a total scam. 7000 to 2500 and a end of the week deadline? Save your money. You might want to check out a brita filter from amazon if you're that worried about water quality. 30 bucks.

I'm definitely in the market for a softner/conditioner. It is very commonplace in this area. The filter only helps with the drinking water.

Sears sells both water softeners and reverse osmosis systems for far less than 2500. And the salt to put into the softener is really cheap. No monthly charges for replacing the softener tank. we put the softener in our garage, out of sight. Salt only needs replacing about every 6 months. The reverse osmosis water tastes great. And, we definitely need it here because our water is among the hardest in the nation. I tasted SD water before getting the RO, and it is terrible.

What brand? Beside taste, did you notice any difference in the texture of the water? Less water stains? Have you had maintenance issues?

No issues whatsoever. No water stains. Use less soap, dish detergent, laundry detergent. Clothes are cleaner and less damaged (hard water will damage clothes). Both units are the Kenmore brand. Don't know who actually makes them.

That's what I was the answer I was looking for. Did you test your water independently before installing the softener?

There must be some more opinions on water softners. Everything on the other forums seems to misleading. There is also Culligan, Northstar, Ecowater, etc. Then like Bachbeet, people say go with the box store brand. They can be trusted. Help.
