State of Play

For all of those fans of good British television drama, watch out for a miniseries called "State of Play". I watched it flying back and forth to London on Virgin and it was the best TV I have seen in years. Great cast including the young actor who played the doctor in "Last King of Scotland". Should be released relatively soon in the US, or you can pick it up on Amazon in European format. Highly recommended.

Is it a crime drama?

I love Nighy. I'll have to check this out.

I saw the film "State of Play" today. According to the credits it's based on this show. Two thumbs up, it was a taut thriller.

It wasn't my first choice; but, I saw the film last weekend and really enjoyed it.

I'll look out for it. If it's good, it's good.

Slow bump on this. I actually saw the movie first on a flight recently and thought it was ok. I then caught the first two episodes of the BBC series on a subsequent flight. The series drew me in much more than the film did, and so I was compelled to buy the DVD straight away.

The U.S. movie (which may be a different thing) is also very good. Thanks for the heads up; will look for it on BluRay.

It's different, but it is based on the miniseries. The movie is definitely above average but the series is just stellar.
