The Che-lite in Escape from L.A. turns out to be quite the baddy too.
And I believe the Omar Sharif Che movie was made for squares.
I find people's adulation of Che -- generally without much understanding or knowledge of what he did -- inane.
I think the Lost City portrays him much more accurately than most movies out there b/c most Hollywood producers seem to be enamored with his supposed idyllic philosophies of an equitable society. The guy was an assasin, a poor military leader, and by most accurate accounts, a bad guy.
Andy Garcia may or may not hate Che, but I bet you he has more accurate accounts of what the real "Che" was like. Even if he did hate Che, is that so different than a producer who admires him (i.e. Redford)?
