Last comparison: EG 82 and Vass F - Page 3

Eg 82 and Vass F fit very different and look very different in top photo.
EG look more narrow in toe box in top picture and is in real life.
EG is more wide in heel area.
EG 82 not fit me,
Vass F fit me very good.
The EG v's F photo comparison,
it make no sense.
Last is 3 dimension,
it not 2 dimension.
Many many thing when size a shoe.

Yes.
AE park avenue very blobby and unrefined in picture and in real life,
Vass F much more refined.

The 82 is def a little snoutier, the 202 is classic, the F the golden mean IMO

This is a great shot. However, I think you'd really need similarly styled shoes to get a better comparison. I feel like the captoe of the 202 and the stitching on the 82 extenuate their "features" a bit.
Definitely agree on the golden mean F though!

Where's Portnoy when u really need him? I agree with SOS that the 3 dimensions matter-  I find the 202 regular width has a wonderful all round glove-like feel, but when u look at it from above it appears less waisted than the F.  I also find that EGs as a rule have a lower cut at the ankle and it's hard to describe but they seem to have an all round 'flatter' feel- lower profile, lower heel, less toe spring-   gives them that English elegance, even if it's a little less practical, less orthotic.

But of course that's just me.

visually, due to the pictures posted on sf & fwiw, EG has either too much or none toe spring.

imo and ideally the orthotic is built into the footbed. we had that before and there seems to be no consensus. actually, the average i-gent doesn't comprehend that fact. he even ignores it. imo and i'm pretty sure about that, almost all size issues could be fixed with some simple tweaks from an experienced cobbler. people are just too lazy to look them up, anyway.

well, i had to look them up either. they've become a rare broad also around these places.

btw, nice to have a face to the lines, as you posted in waywt recently.

And for this reason I'm not sure I'd want to go bespoke.  I don't think any bespoke shoe could improve on a couple of the lasts that suit me well-  eg. 202, F perhaps with a little tweak in the heel or instep. - they combine fit and visual elegance probably better than bespoke, which after all must still be a stylisation of the individual foot.

not necessarily.

imo bespoke works best, if you have easy access to the premises and workshops and you can work directly with the persons involved in the making process.

actually, only you can answer the concerns you mentioned. after all, you're not like the average i-gent. you take care of the development in fit and finding out these things. so you do a lot more to get good results.
