Peak or notch lapel for suit jacket that doubles as a blazer?

I am an 18 year old guy and I need to buy a suit for a ceremony that I am attending. I am going to spend a little bit more on a suit that I will be able to wear until I finish university. I don't need to wear a suit that often, but I would like one there for when I do. I had a brief meeting with a tailor and he suggested that I go with peak lapels, because it will work better with my stature (I am 5'4 with an athletic/muscular build). I will be wearing the jacket as a blazer, and I have never seen a blazer (in real life) with peak lapels. Is it something that shouldn't be done, or is notch just more common? I know this question has been asked before but if the jacket is doubling as a blazer, which lapel would you recommend?

By the way, I realise that a suit jacket and a blazer are completely different, but even if I was going to buy a blazer separately I would go with more mute coloured buttons so most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference anyway. The main reason though, is that I don't have unlimited funds and I can't really afford to get both.

Get notch lapels. It's less flashy and therefore more "versatile." When you're at the wedding you'll look great in notch or peak lapels. But if you have a job interview, the notches are much better than peak.

Peak lapels are great, but maybe not for your first couple of suits. For most men it's good to wear mostly notch lapels.
