iPhone finally unlocked

Still overpriced, overhyped and behind the times. But good for those who have money to throw for something with such limited usefulness. And you lose one of the biggest "features" - the visual voicemail (and anything else that is carrier-dependent, of course). Curious to see what Apple will do now, as if this spreads it will be a loss of revenue from the AT&T plans for them... Edit: OTOH in reality this is up against things like the Prada/LG collabo and the Vertu status phones so the bottom line is that it will not really matter in the long term.

I'm sure the next firmware update will disable it, and it turns into another cat-and-mouse game between hackers and the giant corporation (a la Sony PSP)

I would think so but who knows what that nutty turtleneck wearer decides. He has a history of screwing over trading partners so who knows...

Cat and mouse will not come for some time. I believe there are only two unlocked iphones to this date.
