Personally I wouldn't wear a turtleneck with a suit with stripes so close together. Chalk stripes are a different story.

It's a herringbone suit. Yeah, it's the way the pic is cropped, as a navy suit+dark turtle neck is probably the most standard/classic turtleneck+suit look there is.

Small point, but I think I'd prefer black monks than loafers here. I know you've got the turtleneck, but loafers and suit feels too incongruous for me (maybe too American?).

I disagree with that one. The turtleneck is very minimalistic, and wearing something as affected as dubmonks with shiny buckles detracts from it. I wore loafers because my other black shoes are all oxfords, which would probably be too formal for this look. Derby's wouldn't look right either nor would black chukkas or boots. I suppose either black cap toes or black loafers would be the only shoes for this look. Perhaps black suede cap toes?

I think DMs would be great there. Maybe affected, but a great look all the same imo. Then again, the suit-no-tie look is a bit affected by nature though is it not? I mean that in a good way, btw.

Black chelseas or double monks. I agree with stitch about "affected" here...go for the whole package, MF (i.e. I like the look but loafers are less ideal than chelseas/monks/maybe a sleek chukka (Tetbury))!

You could go for a single monk if you think DMs too much.

BTW, my aversion to loafers might have no basis. It's just that I see too many American's in very formal suits and loafers. It looks really awful. They might as well wear slippers as far as I am concerned (ok, hyperbole...)!

In my early days, I wore a suit and tie with loafers and I look back at those pics and I am ashamed. Not because it is always by definition bad but because I did it so poorly.
